Your new role

The Vice President of Engineering, Delivery is a senior technology leader within the CNN Technology organization, responsible for ensuring predictable, highquality delivery across a portfolio of missioncritical engineering functions. This VPlevel role reports directly to the CNN Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and is a key member of the senior technology leadership team.

This leader will own and evolve CNN's delivery operating model, balancing speed, quality, reliability, and scale in a fastpaced, alwayson news environment. The role requires deep experience leading engineering leaders, strong operational rigor, and the ability to partner closely with product, editorial, and business stakeholders to translate strategy into execution.

This position is based in Ottawa and plays a critical role in building and scaling CNN's engineering leadership presence in the region. As the most senior exec, this leader would provide on-the-ground leadership to on-site engineers that may be outside of their reporting chain. They would be expected to engage with the broader engineering community, representing CNN and WBD to generate interest in the work we do and identify ways to give back.

Our mission is to make CNN essential every day by delivering reliable, highquality technology that supports breaking news, live events, and ondemand experiences for audiences around the world.

The Engineering Delivery organization spans frontline editorial support, site reliability engineering, and technical program management. Together, these teams ensure that CNN's products and platforms are resilient, scalable, and delivered with excellence, even under the most demanding conditions.

Your role accountabilities
  • Lead the engineering delivery strategy across CNN Technology, ensuring alignment between the CTO's strategic priorities and daytoday execution.
  • Own endtoend delivery outcomes across Editorial Support, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Technical Program Management (TPM).
  • Ensure frontline Editorial Support teams provide reliable, responsive technical support for newsroom and editorial staff working in CNN systems.
  • Lead SRE teams responsible for production environments, operational excellence, incident management, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Oversee Technical Program Management teams accountable for the coordinated delivery of complex products and features across engineering.
  • Partner closely with central Test Engineering and QA teams to deliver quality at scale through strong testing strategies, automation, and release readiness.
  • Establish and mature delivery frameworks, metrics, and governance to improve predictability, transparency, and accountability.
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence, including production readiness, postincident learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Editorial, Design, Data, and Commercial leaders to align delivery plans with business and journalistic goals.
  • Communicate delivery status, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to executive stakeholders using datadriven insights.
  • Attract, develop, and retain senior engineering leaders, fostering a diverse, inclusive, and highperforming organization.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Extensive experience leading large, complex engineering organizations with multiple senior leaders.
  • Proven track record of owning endtoend delivery for highimpact, businesscritical technology initiatives.
  • Strong background in engineering delivery, operational excellence, and scaling teams in fastpaced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with product, editorial, and business stakeholders in highly matrixed organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical and operational topics for executive audiences.
  • Experience leading geographically distributed teams and managing significant organizational change.
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and modern cloudnative operating models.
  • Leads by example, building trust through every interaction.
Bonus Experience
  • Experience in digital media, news, streaming, or live content platforms.
  • Familiarity with live and ondemand video workflows and media supply chains.
  • Exposure to largescale technical program management or portfolio delivery functions.
  • Comfort representing technology delivery with senior executives and external partners.

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $310,000.00 - $360,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.This is a newly created position.
