Expectations:

The VP & Chief Nurse Executive has authority and responsibility for the provision of patient care services across the enterprise. This position functions as a member of senior management to facilitate effective, efficient patient care, serving as a key participant in defining the hospital's mission, strategic plan, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures. This position provides leadership by delineating and maintaining standards of patient care and clinical practice throughout the hospital, ensuring the attainment of organizational goals and objectives, and providing management expertise. In this leadership role, the incumbent participates in assessing the environment, forecasting trends, communicating ideas, developing and implementing policy, initiating and improving programs and systems, and managing resources. This position is responsible for the professional development and educational needs of the patient care staff, as well as all other hospital employees. Internal contacts include governing body members, corporate and hospital executives, physicians, department managers, directors, nursing and other clinical hospital staff, patients, and families. External contacts include professional peers and groups, community members, groups, agencies, industry associations, educational institutions, and consumers. This position requires flexibility in hours.
EDUCATION:
Master's degree in nursing required. Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in nursing and senior level management..
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
SKILLS:
Financial knowledge, including operational and capital budgets.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills.
