JOB TITLE: Regional Vice President of Operations
REPORTS TO: VP of Operations

AFP Management Corporation is located in Great Neck, NY and is an Owner/Operator Hotel Group who operates both Branded and Non-Branded hotel chain scale, which includes Select/Full-Service Hotels and Lifestyle/Resort Properties. We are looking for a talented Regional Vice President of Operations to join our team at AFP Management!
Location: This position will be based into the Great Neck area. This position does require up to 90% travel to the portfolio assigned region of hotels.
****A successful candidate should have major branded hotel experience and revenue management systems certifications.****(Marriott, Hilton, IHG and Upscale, Lifestyle Resorts is a plus)
Position Overview:
The Regional Vice President of Operations directs and monitors all short and long- term performance objectives and strategic planning initiatives for a specific portfolio of hotels. The Regional Vice President of Operations is responsible for the effective operational management of the hotels so that they achieve and exceed their foretasted revenue goals and guest satisfaction targets. Working in close partnership with the Senior Vice President of Hotels & Corporate Leaders, the Regional Vice President of Operations will be assigned a portfolio of hotels and provide leadership for all hotels, motivating managers and team members, to carry out the mission. The Regional Vice President of Operations is accountable for directing and coordinating the resources, tasks, requirements, systems, and processes related to the day-to-day operations of the hotels, for creating an energized and positive work environment that results in the delivery of exceptional guest service, and for identifying opportunities for further efficiencies.
Candidate must have 5 years' previous multi-property operational management experience as an exceptionally strong Regional Vice President of Operations. Hilton/Marriott/IHG experience is a plus. Additionally, this candidate must have strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, payroll, expense control, employee and guest relations, with proven service training skills, leadership, team building, and be a "results driven leader" showcasing a track record of driving the Brand Balanced Scorecards.
Job Requirements:
  • Responsible for the overall financial performance of the region by maximizing top line revenue and optimizing EBIDTA.
  • Ensure that each hotel is maximizing the Guest and Associate experience, exceeding Brand Thresholds.
  • Develop, maintain and ensure compliance with AFP Mgmt. Corp. and brand hotel operating policies and procedures.
  • Motivate, coach and train GMs, set goals and hold GMs accountable, and provide appropriate feedback, rewards, and recognition.
  • Hold GMs effectively accountable for managing and motivating associates and achieving overall financial results, and guest and associate satisfaction.
  • Ensure proper, appropriate and timely operations reporting and record keeping both at the AFP Mgmt. Corp. hotels and at the corporate office. Exceeding Annual Finance Control Audits.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, take ownership of personal and team actions, communicate effectively, promote collaboration, nurture a positive, professional work environment, and ensure the development of, and adherence to, AFP Mgmt. Corp. hotel operations policies, protocols and SOP's.
  • Primary Functions
  • Lead the process of developing, with the active participation of the GMs and the corporate team leaders, the annual Business Plan for each hotel.
  • Ensure implementation of AFP Mgmt. Corp approved Business Plan for each hotel.
  • Ensure Operations within AFP Mgmt. .Corp. approved budget for each managed hotel.
  • Gain and maintain excellent knowledge of competition and general industry trends.
  • Monitor operating results and compare outcomes with budgets, other AFP Mgmt. Corp. managed hotels' performances and with industry averages.
  • General safety of all AFP Mgmt. Corp. Hotels guests and associates through safety inspections and compliance, administering of safety awareness programs and training, conducting accident investigations when needed, and timely communication with the SVP of Hotels.

The ideal candidate will be:
  • Work jointly with other company leaders to ensure that key objectives are met.
  • Work with all senior leaders to ensure we are leading in associate engagement and loyalty, produce top brand performance in guest satisfaction, deliver accurate forecasts that meet and exceed financial performance.
  • Have oversight of and mentor highly engaged and top-performing area General Managers to support Associates, Sales, Revenue, Engineering, Food & Beverage, and Operations.
  • Coach and mentor all leaders to help them reach their full potential; establish clear expectations in their role.
  • Regularly hold and actively participate in meetings with the properties' Leadership teams to review performance and analyze data and industry trends to improve processes and procedures.
  • Work with leadership on property capital improvements and budget oversight..
  • Conduct monthly property visits to review all aspects of the operation and serve as a cultural ambassador of our core values to all associates.
  • Work closely with sales & marketing and revenue management to help achieve and exceed RevPAR goals.
  • Work with all areas of the leadership teams taking time to understand our programs and how programs or practices affect our operations and culture; be the catalyst to prevent any working silos.
  • Be transparent with all stakeholders, taking the time to understand everyone's responsibilities and how to best partner with the individuals to determine field subject matter experts, celebrate our culture, and seek feedback while holding everyone accountable.
  • Read daily Emails from AFP Mgmt. Corp General Managers/Corporate Team and respond as appropriate.
  • Conduct private daily telephone call meetings with each General Manager to review daily emails, daily flash reports, daily activities and performance outcomes.
  • Conduct monthly meetings of Department leaders and General Managers to review operations outcomes, progress, and accountability.
  • Inspect all hotels for Quality Assurance standards.
  • Track all performance standards for each hotel. Performance standards include:
  • Brand Quality Assurance.
  • RevPAR Index - Exceeding Fairshare and Growing YOY Performance.
  • Net Operating Income (NOI).
  • Record keeping and reporting.
  • Supplies storage, ordering and POR/PAR protocols.
  • Brand Guest Satisfaction Thresholds.
  • Conduct regular and timely performance reviews of GMs.

What are we looking for?

  • (5) years in a Multi-Property operational oversight role within midscale, lifestyle, or luxury hospitality companies- preferred. Hilton/Marriott/IHG experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel +/- 90% of the time with the needs of the business and performance.
