The firm is at the forefront of the rapidly growing data center cooling sector, partnering with innovative manufacturers to deliver cutting-edge liquid cooling solutions across North America. By combining deep industry knowledge, strong manufacturer relationships, and a solutions-driven approach, ACS supports customers ranging from commercial developers to hyperscale data center operators.

ACS is experiencing significant growth as demand accelerates for high-efficiency HVAC systems and next-generation cooling technologies, creating an exciting opportunity for leaders who want to shape the future of mission-critical infrastructure.

Position Summary

  • The Vice President of Operations will provide executive leadership over all operational functions for a growing HVAC and Liquid Cooling manufacturers' representative firm.
  • This role is responsible for the successful delivery of both traditional HVAC systems in Texas and advanced Liquid Cooling solutions for data centers across North America.
  • Reporting directly to the Principals, the VP of Operations will lead teams of Project Managers, Engineers, and Field Technicians to ensure excellence in project execution, operational efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.

This executive will drive scalable processes to support the company's growth in both the regional commercial HVAC market in Texas and the rapidly expanding data center cooling sector nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all project delivery activities, including traditional HVAC installations in Texas and Liquid Cooling deployments for hyperscale, enterprise, and colocation data centers across North America.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle for both HVAC and Liquid Cooling projects—from pre-construction planning and coordination through installation, testing, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Manage and develop a team of Project Managers, Senior Engineers, and Technicians across multiple regions, fostering a high-performance culture focused on quality, safety, and results.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed customer and manufacturer expectations.
  • Direct operations for traditional HVAC systems (new construction, retrofits, and service) throughout the Texas market.
  • Lead the execution of complex Liquid Cooling projects, including direct-to-chip, immersion, and rear-door heat exchanger technologies integrated with facility HVAC infrastructure nationwide.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, manufacturers, and engineering partners to convert opportunities into successful project execution.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes, tools, and best practices for project management, risk mitigation, quality control, and operational excellence.
  • Manage operational financial performance, including forecasting, cost control, margin management, and profitability.
  • Champion safety programs and ensure compliance with all regulatory, industry, and customer safety standards.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for project-related issues involving customers, contractors, and partners.
  • Support strategic planning, resource allocation, capacity forecasting, and business development initiatives.
  • Stay current on industry trends in HVAC, liquid cooling technologies, ASHRAE standards, Uptime Institute guidelines, and emerging best practices.
  • Successfully onboard and develop new team members through structured training, coaching, and performance management programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in HVAC and mechanical systems with significant exposure to both commercial HVAC and data center projects.
  • 6+ years of senior leadership experience managing multi-regional operations and large teams of project managers and technicians.
  • Demonstrated success delivering traditional HVAC projects and complex liquid cooling projects in mission-critical environments.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, liquid cooling technologies (CDUs, cold plates, manifolds, immersion cooling, etc.), and data center infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to scale operations, teams, and processes across multiple geographies.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for an MEP contractor, manufacturers' representative firm, or specialized systems integrator.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PE (Professional Engineer), or LEED.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale data center clients and liquid cooling manufacturers such as CoolIT, Boyd, Asetek, Motivair, or similar organizations.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing operations teams during periods of rapid growth.

What Success Looks Like

  • Deliver consistent operational excellence across both Texas HVAC projects and North American data center cooling initiatives.
  • Achieve strong project margins, high on-time completion rates (95%+), and exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Build a scalable, best-in-class operations organization capable of supporting continued aggressive growth.
  • Establish ACS as a trusted leader in both traditional HVAC project delivery and advanced data center cooling solutions.

Compensation

  • $400,000 – $500,000 annual total compensation package
  • Executive-level compensation commensurate with experience, leadership background, and industry expertise
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities

  • Travel and expense reimbursement
  • Opportunity to help shape one of the fastest-growing organizations in the HVAC and data center cooling industries
