J.D. Hawkins & Associates has been retained to recruit a Director of Information Technology for a rapidly expanding, nationally recognized healthcare organization. This role includes a clear pathway to Vice President of Information Technology.

Position Summary

The Director of Information Technology serves as the senior technology leader responsible for defining the IT roadmap, modernizing infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity, and leading a high‐performing team. This role blends strategic vision with hands‐on operational leadership and works closely with executive leadership to support organizational growth and clinical operations.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a 1–5 year IT roadmap.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and digital transformation opportunities.
  • Advise executive leadership on technology risks and business impact.


Infrastructure & Operations

  • Oversee enterprise-wide network, server, cloud, and endpoint environments.
  • Ensure high availability of business applications.
  • Establish IT service delivery KPIs and support standards.

  

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Lead a risk-based cybersecurity strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with security frameworks and privacy regulations.
  • Oversee incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery.

Financial & Vendor Management

  • Manage IT budgets and forecast technology investments.
  • Lead vendor negotiations, licensing, procurement, and contract management.


Team Leadership

  • Mentor and develop IT staff.
  • Drive talent strategy and performance management.
  • Oversee three internal team members plus two consulting organizations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field required.


Experience & Skills

  • 6+ years of progressive IT leadership (Director or VP level preferred)
  • Strong technical acumen across enterprise architecture, cloud platforms, hybrid environments, and AI infrastructure
  • Proven success leading IT transformation in complex or rapidly scaling organizations
  • Strong financial and vendor management skills
  • Industry certifications preferred
  • Experience in multi‐site healthcare is a plus.
