Job description

What We Offer
The Vice President Financial Reporting & Reimbursement provides executive leadership and strategic oversight for the health system's external financial reporting, reimbursement, and regulatory finance functions. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and healthcare regulatory requirements, while also overseeing reimbursement strategy, cost reporting, and payer-related financial compliance. Reporting to executive finance leadership, the Vice President serves as a key advisor on financial transparency, reimbursement optimization, and regulatory risk.
What You'll Do
Essential Functions
  • Provide executive leadership for enterprise financial reporting and reimbursement functions.
  • Oversee preparation and issuance of external financial statements and completion of annual financial audits in compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Direct preparation, submission, and defense of cost reports and related regulatory filings.
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal, Revenue Cycle, and Operational leaders to ensure alignment and risk mitigation.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting and reimbursement processes.
  • Monitor regulatory and reimbursement changes and assess financial impact to the organization, with an emphasis on state level directed payment programs as well as legislative activities at both the federal and state level that are relevant to healthcare systems.
  • Advise executive leadership on reimbursement trends, financial performance, and regulatory risk.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop financial reporting and reimbursement teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement, accuracy, and efficiency across reporting and reimbursement operations.

What We're Looking For
  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or related field. Graduate Degree, preferred.Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience: Ten years, required. Progressive leadership experience in financial reporting, reimbursement, healthcare finance, or related roles.
  • Licensure/Certification: CPA, preferred. CFA, preferred.
  • Additional Skills (preferred): •
    • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, external financial reporting, and healthcare accounting standards.
    • Demonstrated expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer reimbursement methodologies
    • Deep knowledge of healthcare accounts receivable reserve methodologies and net revenue calculations.
    • Strong understanding of cost reporting, regulatory filings, and compliance requirements
    • Proven ability to assess financial and regulatory risk and implement effective controls
    • Excellent executive communication, presentation, and technical writing skills
    • Strong leadership capabilities with experience building and leading high-performing finance teams
    • Ability to translate complex regulatory and financial requirements into actionable strategy
  • Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred):
    • Experience with CMS cost reports, reimbursement appeals, and payer audits
    • Familiarity with value-based care reimbursement models and regulatory trends
    • Experience presenting financial and reimbursement matters to executive leadership or governing bodies
