Job description

Job Description:

The VP, Product Pricing Strategy is the strategic architect of how NextGen Healthcare commercializes its complex, interconnected software and services portfolio. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer (CPO), this executive leader operates at the center of a cross-functional "triad" composed of Product Leaders (P&L Owners), Sales/Commercial Leaders, and Finance Leaders to balance market opportunity with financial rigor and sales agility. This role owns the market-facing, value-oriented packaging and pricing architecture across our ambulatory EHR, practice management, revenue cycle, and platform offerings, designing monetization models that simplify the buying experience, drive product-led growth, and maximize customer lifetime value.
  • Monetization & Packaging Strategy: Define the holistic portfolio pricing strategy, subscription tiers, and packaging frameworks; partner with Product GMs to translate product roadmaps and new product introductions (NPI) into modern, value-aligned SaaS and product-led growth (PLG) packaging structures (including standardizing tier structures, modular bundling strategies, and pricing for AI/GenAI add-ons).
  • Sales Enablement & Deal Governance: Collaborate with Sales leadership and Sales Operations to establish clear discounting frameworks, value-based sales playbooks, and contract-term guidance that reduce transaction friction and protect price realization.
  • Finance Partnership & Governance: Partner with the Corporate Finance peer to separate value-based pricing design from financial compliance; co-chair the internal Pricing Committee to ensure all commercial models are both highly competitive and financially disciplined.
  • Market Research & Price Elasticity: Oversee quantitative and qualitative pricing research-including price-elasticity modeling, competitive intelligence, and customer sensitivity analyses-to ground pricing decisions in objective market data.
  • Corporate Pricing Governance: Co-lead corporate pricing governance by partnering with Corporate Finance; this VP owns the market-facing, value-based pricing design and packaging strategy, while partnering with Finance to ensure all models align with corporate margin targets, revenue recognition compliance, billing system capabilities, and corporate financial planning.
  • Price Realization & Optimization: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the ongoing efficacy of pricing models, actual discount rates, bundle performance, and contract compliance; utilize this data to continuously iterate, optimize, and defend future packaging and pricing strategies.
  • Team Leadership & Executive Influence: Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of monetization managers and pricing analysts; prepare and present complex, data-driven pricing recommendations to secure consensus from the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.
Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Preferred: MBA, Master's in Economics, or other advanced business degree.
Experience Required:
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in monetization strategy, strategic pricing, product strategy, corporate strategy , or business operations within B2B enterprise software or SaaS environments.
  • Proven track record of building and leading a strategic pricing or monetization function, including designing and scaling multi-product SaaS packaging and tiered subscription models.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing sales discounting governance, value-based pricing methodologies, and commercialization strategies for new product launches.
  • Preferred: Experience in healthcare IT, digital health platforms, or private equity-backed technology environments.
  • Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
License/Certification Required:
  • None required.
  • Preferred: Certified Pricing Professional (CPP) or other specialized monetization credentials.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of:Modern monetization models for emerging technologies, including AI, Generative AI, and API/platform integrations. Modern B2B SaaS business models, recurring revenue metrics (LTV, CAC, NRR, Gross Margin), and value-based pricing methodologies. Advanced pricing research frameworks, price elasticity modeling, and market-segmentation techniques. Enterprise sales structures, deal-desk operations, contracting guidelines, and discount-governance practices.
  • Preferred: Healthcare industry commercial structures, clinical software trends, and regulatory impacts on health technology contracts.
  • Skill in:Executive-level communication, with the ability to distill complex financial and quantitative models into simple, persuasive narratives. Cross-functional orchestration within a "triad" governance model (Product, Sales, Finance). Advanced statistical reasoning, quantitative financial modeling, and structured strategic planning. Coaching, mentoring, and leading highly analytical teams of pricing professionals.
  • Ability to:Translate abstract product value propositions into highly structured, defensible, and simple pricing and packaging structures. Collaborate cross-functional and build strong operational partnerships with Product, Finance, Legal, and Sales executives.
