Job Description
General Duties:
  • Adhere to all College policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to State and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with college personnel, students and the community.
  • Attend to details and perform at a high rate of accuracy.
  • Upgrade skills level and performance through professional development.

Specific Duties:
  1. Assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements and the financial audit including preparation of audit workpapers and reconciliations.
  2. Reconcile various college general ledger accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  3. Prepare monthly reconciliations of college bank accounts as assigned.
  4. Maintain college's capital asset ledgers and ensure proper recording of depreciation and amortization.
  5. Process bank transactions as requested.
  6. Process unclaimed property to be forwarded to the state of Mississippi on a semi-annual basis.
  7. Preparation of monthly, semi-annual, and annual board reports.
  8. Monitor and remit taxes as due and liaison with taxing agencies.
  9. Maintain accounting records for and payment of District Bonds, Leases, and Notes Payable.
  10. Assist with the preparation of the annual Master Budget Request to the state of Mississippi.
  11. Train as primary backup for all finance department functions.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President of Finance or the Assistant Comptroller.

Job Duties
This position is responsible for assisting with maintaining the financial records of the college, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations related to financial transactions. The position reports to the Associate Vice President of Finance.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
(M2) Minimum of four years practical experience in an accounting/finance setting.
(M3) Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
(M4) Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
(M5) Demonstrated competency in technology.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) CPA license.
(D2) Masters degree in business, accounting, or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
(D3) Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning system, preferably Banner.
(D4) Prior or current experience working in a community/junior college setting.
