Interim Vice President of Student Services

Overview
At Yuba College, the Vice President of Student Services holds a pivotal role in shaping an educational environment that champions student success and equity. The VP oversees and develops innovative student services and programs responsive to the diverse needs of our student body and the demands of a rapidly changing world. They create a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment that facilitates student engagement, learning, and success from entry to graduation. Through collaborative leadership, the VP helps make Yuba College a place where students can thrive, achieve their goals, and transform their lives.
Basic Function
The VP reports directly to the President of Yuba College. They lead a team of dedicated professionals committed to delivering equitable, impactful student services across all locations, including evenings and summer sessions, and extending these services to the collegeโs campuses in Yuba and Sutter Counties. The VP works closely with the Vice President of Instruction and other staff to develop and assess studentโcentered processes aimed at improving engagement, retention, and success. As a member of the College leadership team, the VP collaborates with other vice presidents and deans to meet the mission and support comprehensive success across both sites.
The VP functions as general administrator of Student Services at the main campus and two centers. Key responsibilities include:
- Admissions, Records, Outreach, and Registration
- Counseling, Matriculation, and Articulation
- Student Life Programs
- Financial Aid and Scholarships
- Categoryโspecific Student Services such as DSP & S, EOP & S, CalWORKs, TRiO, Veteranโs Center, and other programs
- Student Development
- Career Services Center, Student Employment, and College Service/Internships
- Health Services
- Outreach and Transfer Services
- Student Equity and Achievement Plan (SEAP)

Minimum Qualifications
- Masterโs degree
- At least three years of supervisory leadership experience related to the essential duties and assignment
- Foreign transcripts must include a U.S. evaluation and translation
Desirable Qualifications
- Three to five years of successful public higher education administrative experience in Student Services, including concurrent management of multiple support programs/units
- Direct managerial responsibility for admissions, records, outreach, counseling, DSPS, EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, TRiO, financial aid, student conduct, student success & retention, and transfer & career programs
- Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to equityโfocused practices in a diverse workplace, including Spanishโspeaking populations
- Earned doctorate from an accredited institution (desired)
- Knowledge of California Education Code and TitleโฏV
- Knowledge of working with HSI (HispanicโServing Institutions) colleges
- Strong collegial collaboration with diverse constituencies, both internal and external
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong management and operations skills
- Experience in participatory governance environments

Range/Step Range
Management Salary Schedule: $167,420 โ $204,000 annually (Stepโฏ1โ9). Placement based on years of related experience and educational qualifications.
