Summary

The VP of Assessment, K-12 is a strategic, self-motivated leader responsible for the oversight, development, and commercial success of Savvas's comprehensive K-12 assessment portfolio, anchored by the Savvas Momentum Assessment Suite on the award-winning Savvas Realize platform. In this position, the Vice President will bridge the gap between technical assessment science and commercial execution, ensuring our digital diagnostic and screening solutions remain valid, reliable, and deeply integrated with core curricula. The VP will collaborate across lines of business to align product capabilities with national sales strategies and meet annual revenue targets.

Primary Responsibilities People Management
  • Direct a specialized, selective team of direct reports, including psychometricians, learning analytics specialists, and assessment development leads.

  • Conducts regular project milestones, research validation, and roadmap alignment meetings with the development team.

  • Oversees the professional development, industry research contributions, and continuous learning of all team members.

  • Assists in the hiring, training, and evaluation of technical talent within the fields of educational measurement, data science, and learning analytics.

Business Development
  • Partners with the sales organization to meet with existing and prospective school district leaders to position Savvas assessment programs, highlighting the value of valid, reliable data in math and literacy.

  • Works to foster lasting relationships with key customer accounts to increase renewal rates for the Savvas Momentum Assessment Suite.

  • Attains specific quarterly and annual sales goals for the assessment portfolio and provides accurate revenue forecasting and market opportunity analysis to executive leadership.

  • Drives strategic planning for new business acquisition; consistently reviews and analyzes assessment usage, reporting data, and market trends.

  • Works to ensure product adoption, efficacy, and overall growth goals are met across the division.

Marketing and Operations
  • Collaborates with product marketing to design impactful promotional materials highlighting key features such as easy-to-read educator reports, targeted instructional recommendations, and the built-in Concept Library.

  • Devises new and innovative ways to market specific product lines, including Momentum Math (K-8, Algebra I, and Algebra Readiness), Momentum Literacy (K-8 Reading and ELA), and the Momentum Dyslexia Screener (Grades K-3).

  • Presents technical data, psychometric validity, customer needs, and product roadmaps at Savvas executive meetings.

  • Represents the K-12 Assessment division at senior leadership team meetings to align assessment features directly with core programs like enVision Mathematics, Experience Math, myView Literacy, and myPerspectives English Language Arts.

  • Promotes assessment products and cross-selling data strategies internally across diverse business segments.

  • Leads internal seminars, workshops, and training sessions to optimize the field sales force's understanding of data-driven instructional recommendations and personalized student support.

  • Possesses deep, demonstrable knowledge of competitive K-12 assessment programs, psychometric practices, test-construction methodologies, and state educational frameworks.

  • Demonstrate ability to think creatively about reporting mechanisms, standard-aligned instructional resources, and personalized student growth tracks.

  • Exhibit awareness of best product development, marketing, and educational sales practices.

  • Proven track record of recruiting and retaining top-tier specialized talent in measurement and analytics.

  • Demonstrates strong customer service skills and diplomacy when translating complex data insights for internal stakeholders or school district partners.

  • Possesses strong persuasive and communication abilities to articulate complex psychometric narratives into clear commercial benefits.

  • Demonstrates solid motivation and technical leadership skills.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required. A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Educational Measurement, Psychometrics, Statistics, or a closely related field is highly preferred.

  • A minimum of 12+ years' experience in K-12 education technology, assessment development, or assessment product management.

  • Prior work in designing, implementing, or selling K-12 assessment solutions, diagnostic platforms, or screening tools within the education industry.

  • Experience managing P&L, development budgets, and complex technical research lifecycles.

  • Detailed knowledge of Savvas company programs and services, particularly digital deployment via the Savvas Realize platform, is preferred.

Other Requirements
  • Some travel may be required (strategic client meetings, industry conferences, and internal summits).

  • In-depth knowledge of sales, marketing, and psychometric/assessment best practices.

Compensation is determined by factors such as but not limited to skills, experience, budget, and internal equity.

Hiring Range: $192,000 - $220,000 + Bonus
