About Us:
If you are passionate about the ability of American business to improve lives, solve problems, and strengthen society, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the place for you. As the world's largest business organization, we believe in building a future that gives everyone the opportunity to pursue a better tomorrow. We make it our job today-and every day-to build the strongest relationships possible among the American people, business leaders, and elected officials in Washington, D.C., state capitals, and countries around the globe. For them and the businesses we represent, the U.S. Chamber is a trusted advocate and partner.
We are driven by the pursuit of innovation and partnership and hold ourselves to the highest standards. Our commitment to our members is matched only by our commitment to our employees. As part of our team, we will support your long-term career development while delivering relevant learning opportunities. We will empower you to lead, develop deep expertise, and find new approaches to solving the toughest challenges.
Position Overview:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is seeking a strategic, highly organized, and collaborative leader to serve as Vice President, International Operations. This role will function as a Chief of Staff type role for International Affairs and principal operational partner to the Senior Vice President and Chief International Affairs Officer (CIAO), helping lead a complex, fast-paced division with significant internal and external engagement. The position is designed to strengthen execution, coordination, and organizational effectiveness across the Chamber's international portfolio, including more than 30 business councils, international policy teams, business engagement activities, high-level engagement with CEOs, ambassadors, foreign delegations, board leadership, and global forums such as the B20. Working across a complex and often siloed environment, the Vice President, International Operations will translate strategic priorities into action, align teams and resources, manage division-wide priorities, prepare executive materials, and help lead organizational planning, operating rhythm, and culture.
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the principal operational partner to the SVP/CIAO, helping to translate strategic priorities into clear execution plans and measurable outcomes across the International Affairs division.
  • Coordinate across teams, functions, and leadership to drive alignment, break down silos, and ensure effective follow-through on division priorities and initiatives.
  • Manage the division's operating cadence, including leadership meetings, planning processes, priority tracking, and decision-making forums.
  • Support organizational planning and execution across a broad and complex international portfolio, including business councils, multilateral engagement platforms, policy experts, and member-facing activities.
  • Prepare high-quality executive materials, including briefing memos, presentations, talking points, strategic updates, and other communications for senior leadership.
  • Help prioritize and sequence work across the division to ensure resources are aligned with the Chamber's highest-impact opportunities and commitments.
  • Represent the SVP/CIAO in select internal meetings and cross-functional forums, advancing priorities and ensuring continuity of execution.
  • Partner closely with leaders across policy, membership, communications, operations, finance, HR, and other functions to solve problems, improve coordination, and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, operating models, and ways of working across the division to support greater efficiency, collaboration, and performance.
  • Contribute to divisional culture-building, team development, and succession planning efforts in support of a high-performing and forward-looking organization.

Qualifications:
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience in a chief of staff, strategy, operations, management consulting, or organizational leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and driving execution in complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Exceptional project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and competing priorities.
  • Strong strategic thinking and structured problem-solving abilities, with sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level presentations, briefings, and correspondence.
  • High emotional intelligence, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive matters with sound judgment.
  • Experience supporting senior executives and operating effectively in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.
  • Interest in international business, public policy, and global affairs strongly preferred.

The salary range for this position is $196,555.00 to $225,000.00, with the possibility of additional compensation through a discretionary bonus. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant's qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
We provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
