Full-time

Job description

US Functional pigments & additives manufacturer is looking to fill a Vice President of Sales position, ideally located in the Chicagoland area. Other locations in the Upper Midwest are also a possibility. This is an excellent opportunity to join a relatively small, but growing, specialty chemical manufacturer. The company has excellent product lines, and a great reputation in the industry. This is also a very solid income opportunity. Overnight travel is expected to be ~25%.

Responsibilities: Sell a range of functional pigments & additives to large paint & coatings manufacturers in the USA.  This is somewhat like a corporate account sales role, handling accounts such as Sherwin Williams/Valspar, PPG, Akzo, Axalta, etc. The focus will mainly be on large accounts in the coatings markets.  Call on high levels in purchasing and R&D across the customers’ organizations.  Understand customers’ business requirements and recommend solutions in a consultative manner.  Additionally, manage the business relationship and sales that go through a specialty chemical distributor in North America.  Funnel leads, make joint calls, provide training, manage metrics, etc. Build strong collaborative relationships, etc. Travel overnight as needed.

Requirements: 10 years’ minimum experience selling specialty chemicals and/or additives, to large corporate accounts with multiple facilities and centralized purchasing and R&D. Experience selling to coatings manufacturers such as Sherwin Williams/Valspar, PPG, Akzo, and Axalta is strongly preferred. A team-player that works exceptionally well cross-functionally within organizations. A college degree is required, preferably in chemistry or related, or business. Strong sales and communication skills. Willingness to travel overnight as needed.

Company Information: US based functional pigments manufacturer.

Compensation: $175,000 - $225,000 base salary, commensurate with experience, plus an annual bonus targeted at 25% of base salary. Strong company benefits.
