Chenega Advanced Solutions and Intelligence Services, LLC (CASIS), is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Chenega Corporation, an Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) headquartered in Anchorage, Alaska. CASIS is an 8(a), ANC-Owned, Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) headquartered in Sierra Vista, AZ. We are a professional services provider specializing in the delivery of Intelligence Operations and Cyber Support Services to the Department of Defense (DoD) & other agencies within the U.S. Government (USG).
CASIS is a part of Chenega Corporation's Military, Intelligence, and Operations Support (MIOS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU). The SBU operates as a leveraged services model that increases the depth & scalability of our support staff while reducing costs to our customers. Chenega MIOS has over 1,700 employees located across the United States & internationally, with experience that includes management of contracts valued at $2 Billion that provide services to large federal agencies.
The Professional Tutor will provide comprehensive in-person tutoring services that enhance students' understanding of course materials, reinforce effective study habits, and contribute to overall academic achievement.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the academic area for which they are tutoring. This can be demonstrated through various means, and the tutor may consult with the Vice President of Academic Affairs(VPA), Academic Deans, or other identified personnel as necessary to evaluate credentials.
  • Provide comprehensive in-person tutoring services that enhance students' understanding of course materials, reinforce effective study habits, and contribute to overall academic achievement. This can take the form of individualized assistance or group interactions to foster a culture of academic excellence.
  • Expected to be familiar with the history of Haskell Indian Nations University, the student demographics, and the role of Tribal Colleges and Universities in higher education. The Tutor will work with the VPA to ensure that adjunct instructors have access to both online and physical historical sources for reference.
  • Expected to understand the mission framework (mission, vision, and cultural values) of Haskell Indian Nations University. The Tutor will work with the VPA to ensure that adjunct instructors have access to available references regarding the University's mission framework.
  • Complete all trainings required by the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Education, and Haskell Indian Nations University.
  • Demonstrate the needed skills to work with a diverse inter-tribal student population and, in consultation with the appropriate dean, implement a culturally sensitive approach with students.
  • Participate in semester assessments of tutoring services, using standards typically established in higher education. Tutors will be provided with resources from the Office of the VPA to complete evaluations successfully.
  • Participate with semester assessments that are due on the Friday of grade-submission week.
  • This position will assist students with tutoring in support of their Athletics courses.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, or an appropriate graduate degree in the subject matter being taught - EXCEPT for Indigenous languages

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to be a clear communicator
  • Knowledge of technology and can utilize email, different online learning systems, and other ways to communicate with students
  • Passionate about specific academic fields and education
  • Clearly understands curriculum design, pedagogy, and learning outcome alignment
