THE POSITION:
STACK is looking for a Vice President of Technical Operations to support all data centers across the Americas portfolio. As a leader within STACK's Operations team, the Vice President of Technical Operations is responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting the critical programs Playbook that drives consistency, governance, productivity, and efficiency in data center. This leader will champion STACK's critical operations principles of Safety, Team, Availability, Communication, and Knowledge. The Vice President of Technical Operations will report to the Senior Vice President of Operations. Responsibilities of the Technical Operations Vice President include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and coach the Technical Operations team as STACK's center of excellence for operations technologies , critical operations workforce development; maintenance, asset management, and availability programs.
  • Collaborate with the Operations leadership team to enhance and evolve our Technical Operations program
  • Act as a culture carrier who champions safety, transparency, and candor
  • Drive definition, development, and implementation of maintenance, quality control, and safety process changes to improve critical operations productivity and effectiveness
  • Work with critical operations leadership in the development and governance of the facility maintenance program and equipment/system operation
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and experience in data center electrical and mechanical systems including; power distribution systems, emergency power, UPS systems, Building Management Ssystems (BMS), HVAC, and fire alarm and suppression systems
  • Subject matter expert on critical facilities maintenance policies, procedures, safety, training, and data center critical functions
  • Develop and implement new maintenance standards as needed to support evolving operational needs
  • Ensure that MOP's, SOP's, and EOP's are developed, reviewed and audited through all stages of the maintenance process for data center critical infrastructure.
  • Leads the quality assessment program that documents compliance with and opportunities to improve adherence to policies and processes
  • Partner with Learning & Development and Critical Operations SMEs to develop and deliver technical training of training for data center critical operations team
  • Lead the event management and root cause analysis processes.
  • Develop support and training documentation for critical operations tools and processes
  • Champions people, process, and technology improvements to increase critical operations effectiveness.
  • Gather, document, and share best practices. Act as a change agent.

THE DETAILS:

  • Any STACK data center location
  • Travel: Up to 50%
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must pass a comprehensive drug and background screening

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 10 years' progressively responsible leadership in data center critical operations.
  • Experience leading data center operations programs with experience in large 'hyperscale' operations.
  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's degree is desired but not required.
  • Demonstrated success in building organizations during periods of rapid growth.
  • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and lead through collaboration across complex, dispersed organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating, selecting, and managing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience developing and delivering executive level presentations

  • Reduction of operational risk through governance, standards, and risk-informed investments.
  • Strong partnerships with Development, Construction, Operations, I.T., People & Culture, and Executive Leadership.

  • Successful leadership of strategic technical operations initiatives and third-party partnerships.
  • Building and developing a high-performing technical operations organization.
