Vice President of Finance - Arizona


The Vice President of Finance is responsible for enterprise-wide financial leadership overseeing financial strategy, planning, risk management, and reporting for the organization. The role is accountable for ensuring financial integrity, operational discipline, and long-term sustainability across all business lines.


As a key member of the executive leadership team, the VP of Finance partners closely with senior leaders to drive and support strategic decision-making, driving long-term growth, operational efficiency, and sustainable profitability across the business. This role delivers clear financial insight through forecasting, budgeting, performance management, and data-driven analysis to guide corporate and operational priorities.

The VP of Finance oversees accounting, revenues, audit, tax and financial operations, manages external partner relationships, and leads the development of a high-performing finance team. Through disciplined fiscal management and collaborative leadership. This role safeguards the organizationโ€™s financial health, while enabling mission aligned growth.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Leadership

  • Develop and lead the companyโ€™s overall financial strategy, aligning planning, performance, and growth objectives with business priorities.
  • Own financial operations end-to-end, ensuring accountability, team performance, and consistent, high-quality service delivery across communities.
  • Provide financial clarity and forward visibility across the organization, translating data into actionable insights that inform decision-making and long-term strategy.
  • Lead the financial strategy component of the strategic planning process with the executive team, utilizing data and supporting the translation of key performance objectives into financial strategic and growth strategies. Drives financial clarity and decision making at the executive level, serving as a strategic thought partner and advisor.
  • Represent the company as a key external facing executive representing Cohere with existing clients and prospective clients and key financial partners.
  • Stay on top of technology trends, platforms, and solutions to improve operational efficiency and lead internal implementation.

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)

  • Oversee corporate budgeting, forecasting, reporting, financial modeling, and final decision frameworks.
  • Establish a rolling forecast model that aligns growth, hiring, and operational investment with financial performance.
  • Lead a proactive financial planning function that provides forward-looking insights, scenario modeling, and decision support to executive leadership.
  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Establish and own KPIs and performance metrics to guide the business.
  • Deliver clear, actionable financial insights to leadership.
  • Oversee cash flow planning and working capital management.

Business Partnership

  • Support pricing strategies, cost management, and margin optimization.
  • Drive financial discipline across the organization.
  • Model and provide insights to support key business decisions, investments, and new business opportunities.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a multi-layered finance organization through the Director of Accounting and senior accounting leadership, ensuring strong day-to-day team performance and support
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and alignment to leadership roles responsible for managing a team 25+ across accounting, finance, and customer care functions
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning, innovation and excellence.

Operations

  • Lead and develop a multi-layered finance organization through the Director of Accounting and senior accounting leadership, ensuring strong day-to-day team performance and support
  • Provide clear direction, coaching, and alignment to leadership roles responsible for managing a team of 25+ across accounting, finance, and customer care functions
  • Design and evolve team structure, roles, and responsibilities to support scale, clarity, and operational efficiency
  • Build and implement scalable processes, systems, and workflows that enable consistency across a growing organization
  • Foster a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvementโ€”grounded in learning, innovation, and operational excellence

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • MBA preferred
  • CPA or CFA a plus
  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading teams
  • Proven experience as a CFO, VP Finance, or senior finance executive
  • Strong expertise in financial planning, reporting, and corporate finance
  • Experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), budgeting & forecasting, financial reporting, strategic decision-making
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements and GAAP, cash flow management, risk management
  • Experience communicating and working with leadership and executive teams
  • Experience running the financial side of business and helping drive business strategy

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • The Vice President should expect to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and some holidays.
  • Ability to provide oneโ€™s own transportation; must have a current driversโ€™ license and an acceptable driving record.
  • May be required to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and be on feet for extended periods.

Compensation & Benefits


Salary: $175,000 โ€“ $190,000 annually

Year-end bonus eligibility: up to 15% of gross annual salary
