Franklin Biolabs, Inc. is in search of a Vice President of Finance who will serve as an active member of the executive leadership team and be responsible for the financial infrastructure and management of the Organization. The VP of Finance oversees the Companyโ€™s accounting, financial planning, forecasting, cash flow management, procurement and relevant functions in support of the Companyโ€™s strategies and objectives. Key responsibilities include:

Financial Operations & Control:

  • Owns all accounting processes, including month-end close, general ledger, revenue recognition and preparation of financial statements.
  • Develops, documents and maintains fiscal policies and procedures to ensure a stable and transparent financial infrastructure, adequate internal controls and compliance with GAAP.
  • Manages cash forecasting and working capital to maintain healthy liquidity.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and expense management with a focus on efficiency and cost control.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Company has appropriate and adequate insurance coverages.
  • Leads or supports ad hoc projects including but not restricted to new investments, commercial projects, business development initiatives, implementation or enhancement of the Companyโ€™s ERP.
  • Manages relationships with auditors and tax compliance firms.
  • Responsible for implementing a robust financial control environment to ensure costs including capital expenditures are adequately monitored across the organization.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.

Cash Flow & Financial Planning:

  • Develops and maintains details cash flow models, runway analysis, and scenario planning.
  • Monitors cash flow and ensures appropriate segregation of cash flows between different functions.
  • Leads annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
  • Provides real-time visibility into project profitability, margins, and resource utilization.
  • Serves as the company representative to the Audit and Investment & Finance Committee.
  • Oversees management of portfolio of investments, including permanent endowment, term portfolios, and charitable trust assets, under advisement of outside investment advisor and Investment & Finance committee.
  • Responsible for analyzing and documenting risks faced by the business and reporting these risks appropriately.

Strategic Partnership & Leadership:

  • Participates as an active member of the executive leadership team.
  • Partners with business leaders to provide financial analysis of their segments.
  • Partners closely with the CEO, and executive leadership team on strategic initiatives, including pricing strategy, capital allocation, M&A evaluation, and growth planning.
  • Prepares financial materials for the CEO, Board of Directors and Private Equity investors, including KPI dashboards, variance analysis and performance reporting.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting or a related field required; MBA strongly preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant certification is required.
  • 10+ yearsโ€™ of progressive finance experience, with at least 3-5 years in a Controller or VP Finance capacity.
  • Significant experience in life sciences, biotech, CRO companies is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a start-up, or high-growth environment.
  • Experience preparing materials for Boards and private equity investors.

Travel:

  • Ability to accommodate evening, overnight or weekend travel, including potential extended trips to attend training, meetings, conduct fieldwork, or meet with clients.

On-Site:

  • This position requires full-time on-site presence at our Discovery Labs location in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and occasional travel as needed to Philadelphia.
