TRAINING RANGE SPECIALIST V Mission Department TRIMaC, Santa Rosa Island, FL Open Position Request Number R-85-26 CLASSIFICATION : Training Range Specialist V ; CBA Rate $37.06/HR GRADE: Non -Exempt; Regular Full-time LOCATION: Test Site A-15 (Santa Rosa Island) / Eglin AFB, FL POSTING DATE: Internal Applicants (08/31/2026) / External Applicants (09/04/2026) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The ability to support, without direction, the testing/training ranges activities located in numerous geographical locations on the Eglin Test/Training Complex including Santa Rosa Island and performing minor repairs of training range infrastructures and training apparatuses. Functions may include performing pre-inspections, during inspections and post inspections for range users and training units; assisting test customers; inspecting range facilities and training apparatuses; gathering range/training data; generating reports; inspecting vehicles; performing housekeeping; other duties as assigned. Must be able to recognize unexploded ordnance (UXO) and demolition materials utilized on the training/testing ranges and know and understand processes to remove. Functions also may require working directly with the customer to ensure adequate safeguards and proper criteria are met at all times and to interface with the user's OIC/NCOIC/POC to discuss mission schedules/activities. Will be required to generate required reports to include range use and maintenance requirement information to the required individuals. Must have knowledge of the processes of reporting UXO when found on the Training/Testing Ranges. Must be proficient in utilizing Central Schedule Enterprise (CSE) to interpret daily mission and Range Control Officer requirements related to the missions/tests. Must have a working knowledge of the JTTOCC and its function on Eglin AFB. Must comprehend Eglin's range access procedures ("Z" clearances) and Surface Danger Zones (SDZs) and how they function with missions and test. GENERAL DUTIES: * Reports to a site supervisor and/or senior level technicians and provides support in such areas as research, design, development, testing, range mission requirements/operations, or process improvement. * Work may pertain to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment and/or range operations. * May work with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment supporting range testing/training operations. * Independently performs routine or repetitive tasks or works from detailed procedures. * Work may be checked in progress or on completion. * Must be able to identify work that needs to be performed without being instructed. * Must be able to identify problems and offer working solutions and independently execute solutions. * Assignments are limited in variety and complexity and are reviewed by supervisor, engineer, or senior technician for adequacy and conformity. * This position reviews training/testing mission schedules and work schedules to ensure activities are properly conducted and support. . Job Requirements OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary to support contract and mission support requirements in job-related areas. Performs general housekeeping duties, facility inspections, vehicle upkeep, facility security, and other related job tasks to assigned work areas. Will be required to interface with Government test/range engineers, range users, O&M contractors, other ranges users, range safety, aircraft/airspace control agencies, and aircrews to attain test and training objectives. Will assist with training lower-level technicians. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate or equivalent (GED) is required with experience in Training/Test Ranges. 7 years' experience in the TRIMAC Training/Testing Ranges section; completed required training and demonstrated proficiency in TRIMAC Ranges Operation and procedure to perform inspections and control functions. Must be able to proficiently perform duties without oversight. Must have outstanding knowledge of Test and Training Range Operations, Test and Training Range Capabilities. Must be computer literate and able to perform primary job functions using computers and displays. Must have good verbal and written communications skills. Certified Test Area Controller (TAC), operating on the Test Area SRI Blockhouse Control, A-15A Kimberly, A-15B Abigail is a plus. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Must be able to navigate the Eglin Test and Training Complex Day or night without a map. May be required to work shift-work, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. Must demonstrate knowledge on E-AFBI 13-212 CH 9 and E-OMS 2206-2001, Training Ranges Inspection, Maintenance & Control Program . Demonstrate the ability to access Live Link and utilize range safety profiles. Showcase the capability of accessing Daily Mission Schedule (both forecasted and final) and identify mission support requirements and conflicts related to ranges within their scope of responsibility. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. Candidates must be able to pass physical and eye exams related to the job functions. May be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work may be performed at various heights above ground level. May perform duties both inside and outside and be subjected to a variety of environmental conditions typical to the work area. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and move heavy items. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Must be able to ascend/descend multiple stories of stairways to perform some job functions.
