The Difference You Make:

Santander's Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) business is seeking a Murex Application Developer who will serve as a senior-level technology leader responsible for the design, development, implementation, integration, and ongoing support of Santander CIB's Murex MX.3 platform. The role partners with Global Markets, Risk, Finance, Operations, Architecture, Infrastructure, and Enterprise Technology teams to deliver strategic business initiatives while ensuring platform stability, resiliency, scalability, and regulatory compliance. The incumbent provides advanced technical expertise with minimal management guidance, leads complex technology initiatives, mentors engineering teams, and drives engineering best practices across the Capital Markets technology organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the architecture, design, development, implementation, and support of strategic Murex MX.3 initiatives supporting Santander CIB Global Markets.
  • Own delivery of enhancements across Front Office, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Finance, Operations, and Back Office domains.
  • Design and configure Murex components including workflows, pricing, simulation, trade lifecycle, market data, static data, datamarts, and reporting.
  • Partner with Trading, Risk, Finance, Operations, and Architecture teams to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
  • Lead platform upgrades, migrations, production releases, environment strategy, and vendor engagement with Murex Professional Services.
  • Drive platform resiliency, performance tuning, production stability, operational excellence, and incident resolution.
  • Establish engineering standards, conduct design and code reviews, mentor developers, and foster continuous improvement.
  • Support regulatory and strategic initiatives impacting Global Markets, including risk and finance transformation programs.
  • Lead multiple concurrent initiatives while managing delivery risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Strong Communication skills and ability to interact/support Trade Floor.
What You Bring

To perform this role successfully, the individual must demonstrate deep Capital Markets technology expertise, strong engineering leadership, and a proven track record delivering enterprise Murex solutions.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, or a related discipline required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Information Technology, Application Development, or Capital Markets Technology experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience implementing, configuring, developing, and supporting Murex MX.3.
  • Extensive experience across Front Office, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Finance, Operations, Back Office, and/or Datamart modules.
  • Strong understanding of OTC Derivatives, FX, Fixed Income, Equities, Securities Financing, and Money Markets.
  • Experience with MxML Exchange, market data, static data, workflows, pricing, simulation, and reporting.
  • Experience integrating Murex with enterprise platforms using APIs, messaging, and middleware technologies.
  • Experience with Agile delivery, SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and release management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Experience leading platform modernization, cloud adoption initiatives, and strategic technology transformation is preferred.
  • Bi-Lingual/Spanish skills highly desired.
Certifications
  • Murex certification or equivalent implementation experience preferred.
  • AWS, Azure, Oracle, Java, Scrum, or related certifications are a plus.
It Would Be Nice For You To Have
  • Experience supporting global distributed delivery teams.
  • Experience with regulatory initiatives such as FRTB, Basel, SA-CCR, or similar Capital Markets programs.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, observability, and platform automation.
  • Established history of driving engineering excellence and mentoring high-performing technology teams.

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.

$220,000.00 USD
