Job description

West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM) is seeking a visionary, mission-driven, and collaborative CEO to lead our organization into the future. The CEO position will hold overall management responsibility for our strategy, staff, financial health, program delivery, and external relations, ensuring that our operations align with our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt purpose and mission. Primary Purpose: The Chief Executive Officer provides executive leadership and operational oversight for West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM). The CEO ensures the organization advances its mission to assist individuals and families facing financial hardship through essential services, community partnerships, and compassionate support. The CEO is responsible for organizational leadership, strategic direction, financial stewardship, fundraising leadership, program oversight, and community representation while working in partnership with the Board of Directors to ensure long term sustainability and mission impact. Experience: Strategic Leadership: Minimum of 7 to 10 years of senior leadership experience, preferably as a CEO or Executive Director of a similar-sized 501(c)(3). Social Services: Experience in social services, poverty alleviation, community development, or related fields preferred Operational: Experience overseeing complex programs, budgets, and staff Fundraising: Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, grants, and building revenue streams. Financial Oversight: Strong capability in managing complex budgets and interpreting financial statements. Governance: Experience working with nonprofit boards of directors External Relations: Experience building partnerships within the community Education Bachelor’s degree required Graduate degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business (MBA), social work, theology, or related field preferred
