What We Are Looking For

The LVN Vaccine Coordinator is directly responsible for the immunization programs at SAC Health, all VFC/VFA/Private stock/ HRSA/ County related functions to ensure compliance/audit readiness with all program requirements/updates, including but not limited to maintaining all vaccine stock -ordering, inventory, receiving, handling, and storage of vaccines for all assigned SAC Health locations. Duties include, facilitating maintenance service for vaccine refrigerators and expanding delivery of immunization services. The LVN Vaccine Coordinator must possess a comprehension of vaccines and the immunization scheduling. Occasional travel, and overtime (after-hours and/or weekends) may be required, for the purpose of responding to out-of-range temperature excursions and after-hour notifications. May require use of personal vehicle, if company vehicle is unavailable.

Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm | Location: Brier Clinic, San Bernardino, CA

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES

  • Directly responsible for all VFC/VFA/Private stock/ HRSA/ County related functions to ensure compliance/audit readiness with all program requirements/updates, including but not limited to maintaining all vaccine stock -ordering, inventory, receiving, handling, and storage of vaccines at assigned sites.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective vaccine recall system including abstractions and other necessary vaccine data entry as needed.
  • Ensures accuracy of reports for sites as assigned and as required, i.e., daily, weekly, and as required per VFC protocols, i.e.: immunization statistics, VIS reports, data logger information, etc. Reviews reports/logs with Nurse Manager as requested.
  • Responsible for ensuring audit readiness for CDPH, IEHP, VFC/ HRSA/County, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Conducts internal audits and self-inspections for continuous improvement.
  • During business hours, responsible for reporting out of range vaccine refrigerator temperature excursions to Nurse Manager. Acts as back-up for after-hours temperature excursions, and notifications.
  • Responsible for facilitating maintenance service for vaccine refrigerators and serves as a liaison with service technician. Communicates with Nurse Manager when maintenance is needed, scheduled, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining positive relationships with VFC reps from varying counties.
  • Responsible for remaining abreast of any VFC/VFA/Private stock/ HRSA/ County program updates and communicating them with staff as appropriate and requested.
  • Uses LVN Scope of Practice skills and knowledge to anticipate potential problems using preventive care approach. Formulates alternative solutions using effective problem-solving techniques.
  • Responsible for preparing new clinical sites to ensure vaccine program readiness.
  • Responsible for orienting new hires to vaccine programs and presents staff with ongoing educational material/classes as necessary/requested.
  • Works directly with Nursing leadership as requested to ensure risk and liability issues related to VFC/VFA/Private stock programs are prevented and managed.
  • Acts as a VFC liaison and educator for all assigned SAC Health locations and communicates with other disciplines/departments as needed.
  • Works closely with Compliance and medical directors from various departments including, but not limited to Pediatrics and Family Medicine assisting with specific projects as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid California driver's license, and auto insurance. Current, active and unrestricted LVN License required; current CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (must be American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program). As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience as an LVN and one (1) year experience in vaccine program management/coordinator role required. May substitute one year vaccine program experience with 1 year experience in ambulatory pediatrics setting. Preferred VFC program experience.
  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Must have proficient computer skills including data entry. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including fax machine, scanner, printer and copier, answering telephones, good digital dexterity, and hand-eye coordination to utilize assessment tools
  • Interpersonal Skills: Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Work in a team to accomplish specific goals, teach employees new procedures, demonstrate use of equipment/supplies, communicate by phone/in person with department staff and outside sources. Must maintain a professional appearance along with friendly, cooperative, caring, and calm behavior. Must be committed to serve low-income clients
  • Essential Mental Abilities: Prioritize variety of assignments, follow moderate/complex instructions, proofread documents for content/context accuracy, recognize and appropriately report safety problems or other problem situations.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
