About the job

You will assist the hospital in delivering excellent care to all our patients within the hospital and perform duties pursuant to WRAH Technician Protocols. You will embody our culture by treating every client with courtesy and respect, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets.


How you'll make a difference
  • Monitor and appropriately document patient vital signs and activity
  • Provide support to all veterinarians and assist other departments as requested
  • Provide comfort, diagnostic, surgical and nursing care to all patients including critical care patients
  • Obtain and prepare samples for diagnostic testing including but not limited to blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, urinary catheter sampling and free catch urine
  • Perform various laboratory procedures including but not limited to blood typing, cross matching, and slide agglutination testing
  • Accurately take and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiograph while following appropriate radiation safety protocols
  • Properly use and maintain medical equipment
  • Provide professional client communication

What you will bring
  • Registered Veterinary Technician required
  • Experience working in an ER setting preferred, but not required
  • A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge/skills learned to daily work life
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral
  • Ability to demonstrate technical procedures as outlined in the technician protocols
  • Demonstrate reliability and follow-through with all work-related tasks / projects

Schedules
  • Thursday through Saturday, 7:00pm - 7:00am
  • Wednesday through Saturday 10:00am - 8:00pm
  • Thursday through Saturday 8:00am - 8:00pm
  • Three 12-hour shifts 12:00pm - 12:00am
  • Three 12-hour shifts 10:00am - 10:00pm

Salary
  • $24.00 - $29.00 / hour, based on experience
  • $3.00/hr swing shift differential
  • $5.00/hr overnight shift differential
  • $3,000 sign-on bonus for RVTs hired to work in either the ICU or Patient Care Ward
