Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive patient care for dogs and cats receiving specialty veterinary dentistry services, including patient preparation, restraint, admission, discharge, and medical history documentation.
  • Perform dental prophylaxis, obtain and interpret dental radiographs, and safely handle and utilize veterinary dental instruments.
  • Assist with dental treatment planning, patient estimates, scheduling, advanced imaging, and client communication and education.
  • Perform venipuncture and peripheral IV catheter placement, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Complete pre-anesthetic evaluations and implement prescribed anesthesia plans from pre-anesthesia through recovery, including continuous patient monitoring.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment and monitoring systems, including pulse oximetry and capnography.
  • Monitor patients for anesthetic complications and hemodynamic changes, including hypotension, and appropriately respond to changes in ventilation and oxygenation.
  • Perform pain assessments and support multimodal pain management plans for dental patients.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and follow established CASE protocols for dental patient care, anesthesia, and safety.
  • Collaborate closely with veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, assistants, and other hospital team members to provide safe, efficient, and high-quality specialty patient care.
Qualifications
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credential required.
  • At least 2 years of applicable veterinary technician experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in a specialty veterinary hospital.
  • Knowledge of veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Experience or interest in veterinary dentistry, dental imaging, anesthesia, and specialty patient care.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and other hospital team members.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
