Veterinary Technician, Surgery - LVT/RVT/CVT | $28–$38/hr

Location: Yonkers, NY

Schedule: Full-Time | Four 10-hour shifts OR three 12-hour shifts

Compensation: $28–$38/hour + Weekend Differentials

Animal Specialty Center (ASC) is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician, Surgery to join our specialty animal hospital in Yonkers, NY. This is an opportunity for an experienced LVT, RVT, or CVT to work alongside board-certified surgeons, strengthen advanced anesthesia and surgical nursing skills, and practice high-quality specialty medicine in a collaborative environment.

Compensation

  • $28–$38/hour based on experience, skills assessment, and leveling

  • Weekend Differential (Saturday 12:00am – Sunday 11:59pm):

  • Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT/RVT/CVT): Base pay + $4/hr

  • Non-Licensed Team Members: Base pay + $2/hr

Schedule

  • Four 10-hour shifts OR three 12-hour shifts

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing surgical cases alongside board-certified surgeons and highly skilled veterinary technicians

  • Participate in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures

  • Obtain and process laboratory samples including blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates

  • Execute, monitor, and recover sedation and anesthetic events

  • Assist with operating room duties as both a circulating nurse and scrub technician during orthopedic and soft tissue procedures

  • Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery to ensure optimal patient outcomes

  • Provide compassionate nursing care and advocate for hospitalized patients

  • Collaborate with surgeons, specialists, and support teams to deliver exceptional patient care

Qualifications

  • Active CVT, LVT, or RVT credential (or eligibility for licensure) in New York

  • Previous experience in surgery, anesthesia, or specialty veterinary medicine preferred

  • Strong understanding of anesthetic monitoring, drug calculations, and patient safety protocols

  • Knowledge of radiographic techniques preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills

  • Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and client service

  • Positive attitude and dedication to maintaining a supportive hospital culture

  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
