Certified Veterinary Technician, Emergency

$30โ€“33/hour

Full-time opportunity in Hillsborough, New Jersey

Schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts per week (Sundayโ€“Wednesday or Wednesdayโ€“Saturday), including one weekend day

You'll have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of emergency and specialty services including Critical Care, Surgery, Cardiology, Anesthesia, Radiology, Acupuncture, and advanced imagingโ€”while expanding your technical skills alongside experienced clinicians who value teamwork and continuous development.

In your day-to-day, you will:

  • Deliver exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.

  • Calculate, administer, and monitor medications and treatments with accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Recognize subtle changes in patient condition and respond appropriately to medical emergencies and pain management needs.

  • Place IV catheters, perform venipuncture, and provide advanced fluid therapy.

  • Operate and monitor IV fluid pumps and other critical patient care equipment.

  • Assist veterinarians with diagnostics, treatments, and emergency procedures.

  • Maintain thorough and accurate medical records while communicating effectively with the clinical team.

  • Support patients throughout hospitalization while providing compassionate, high-quality nursing care.

  • Collaborate closely with emergency veterinarians and specialty departments to deliver comprehensive patient care.

  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.

  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.

What You Bring

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, or LVT required).

  • Previous emergency or critical care experience preferred.

  • Strong technical skills including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, medication administration, and fluid therapy.

  • Experience monitoring hospitalized and critically ill patients.

  • Anesthesia experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of emergency disease processes, treatment protocols, and patient assessment.

  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative hospital environment.

  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
