Job description

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Provide staff leadership and oversight for the AFBF Promotion and Engagement program and other member engagement initiatives.

REPORTS TO: Managing Director, Member Engagement

LOCATION: Washington, DC; Eligible to earn telework 2 days/week

PAY RANGE: $95,000 - $105,000 annually, commensurate with experience

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Promotion and Engagement (P&E) Program:

  • Provide staff leadership and oversight of the Promotion & Engagement program, AFBF P&E Committee and related projects including national conferences, committee meetings, new committee member orientation, quarterly newsletters, and associated events and initiatives.
  • Provide staff leadership and oversight of Communicate, Collaborate and Influence (CCI) and other annual convention programs led by the P&E Committee.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of the AFBF Target Training event.
  • Collaborate across all programs on the coordination, planning and execution of the FUSION Conference and provide staff leadership for the P&E-specific programming.
  • Proactively build and maintain relationships with state staff working in related areas and serve as a trusted resource to states in developing P&E programs.
  • Research and develop opportunities for consumer and stakeholder engagements and serve as the staff point-of-contact for AFBF industry relations on P&E stakeholder relationships.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge and awareness of effective consumer engagement practices and relevant consumer engagement topics and trends.
  • Collaborate with AFBF staff from communications, Foundation for Agriculture, and leadership development to leverage existing resources and strategically align efforts in the consumer engagement space.
  • Oversee the social media efforts of the committee including content creation, content calendar, logistics and tracking of social media metrics, in collaboration with the AFBF digital media team.
  • Plan and implement the quarterly Amplify Agriculture Series of the AFBF P&E Committee.
  • Provide strategic direction for and manage the committee’s consumer engagement resources (Digital Toolbox).
  • Develop P&E materials and evaluations, maintain records and files relating to P&E projects.
  • Present programs related to P&E and consumer engagement at state events as requested.

Veteran Farmers:

  • Manage relationship and involvement with Farmer Veteran’s Coalition.
  • Provide staff leadership for the Veteran Farmer Award of Excellence program, including oversight of AFBF Convention winner recognition and digital media engagement.

Health and Safety (H&S):

  • Provide staff leadership for the quarterly Farm Bureau Health and Safety Network.
  • Oversee the development of ASAP Week promotional toolkit.
  • Manage relationship and involvement with safety industry partners.
  • As a member of the Farm State of Mind Working Group, manage the coordination and communication of the Farm Bureau Mental Health Advocate Network and Farm State of Mind Sounding Board.

General:

  • Oversee all budgets associated with P&E, Health & Safety and Veteran Farmers, totaling approx. $225K.
  • Provide details for reports to the AFBF Board of Directors.
  • Effectively engage and mobilize volunteer leaders, maintaining strong and trustworthy relationships.
  • Collaborate as needed in all other program areas for which the Leadership, Education & Engagement Department has responsibility.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Collaborate with staff of the Leadership, Education & Engagement Department, other AFBF and affiliated company staff, and volunteer leaders regarding activities and information of direct concern to them.

EDUCATION OR TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum five years related work experience
  • Experience in building and maintaining professional partnerships
  • Excellent communication, presentation, time management and organizational skills
  • Experience implementing projects, programs and/or processes according to budget parameters

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/SKILLS:

  • Farm Bureau experience
  • Experience working in associations and/or working with volunteers or committees, especially in agriculture
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience with consumer education and engagement
  • Degree in agricultural communications or leadership development field

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Travel (approximately 15-20%) and willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed.
