Job description

McCormick Taylor is actively seeking an experienced mid-level Highway Engineer with a minimum of 6+ years of PennDOT highway/transportation design experience for our Philadelphia office. Successful candidate must be knowledgeable in PennDOT design criteria and standards; have experience in horizontal and vertical geometry, roadway modeling and cross section development, grading and drainage, intersection design, traffic control, signing and pavement marking, utility coordination, ADA Design, and right-of-way plan development. The primary duties are to serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on Pennsylvania transportation projects with various agencies.

Responsibilities: Reports directly to the Project Manager and able to perform Lead Highway Engineer responsibilities Ability to perform engineering tasks independently and to mentor junior engineers in the preparation of engineering studies, analyses, design plans, and reports Collection of field data, as-built plans and engineering reports to establish existing conditions and identify critical areas for design criteria Establish Design Criteria, develop horizontal and vertical alignments, Superelevation, Length-of-Need calculations, etc Roadway modeling, intersection, and ADA ramp design/grading Provide engineering support for E&S, PCSM, drainage, H&H, permits, environmental, structure, and traffic tasks Assist in the preparation of roadway, utility relocation, right-of-way, staging and construction plans, specifications and engineering estimates and reports for transportation projects Knowledge of AASHTO Green Book, specifications, and PennDOT/PA Turnpike standards A focus on quality in compliance with McCormick Taylor's QA/QC policiesCandidate must possess a B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum with an interest in highway engineering P.E. required Experience with MicroStation & Familiarity OpenRoads Experience with PennDOT highway design and PS&E package preparation desirable Familiarity with the PennDOT Roadway Design Manual and the PennDOT Project Delivery process Familiarity with the PennDOT Utility, ROW & Access process Experience with the PA Turnpike and SEPTA transportation projects a plus Candidates must possess strong communications skills Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite We value your interest in our organization
