JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:                    Wet Chemistry Supervisor

Operating Group:      North America - Labs

Division/Cluster:       Industry & Facilities (I&F)

Job Summary:

The incumbent will work independently and/or as part of a team to provide operational support to the laboratory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Job requirements may include, but are not limited to:

           Managing the day-to-day operation of the department

           Responsibility and authority for ensuring that the quality system of the laboratory is implemented and followed at all times

           Ensuring overall high quality analytical data is produced by the department

           Recommending capital equipment and preparing justifications

           Performing routine and complex sample preparation and analysis for the analytical department 

           Able to discuss technical matters about their techniques with clients

           Drive continuing process improvement

           Working independently and problem solving any issues that may come up in the department

           Internal systems/processes

           Advanced instrument/analytical problem solving

           Answering questions that may arise from the client service team

Supervisory Responsibilities

           Authority over staff, which includes recommending hiring and firing

           Providing technical guidance to laboratory personnel

           Consulting in upper-level decisions within the department

           Training new employees

Skills

           Comprehensive computer skills - Internet, MS Office

           Able to operate lab instruments including relevant software and computer programs, including the laboratories LIMS system

           Quality and quantity of work meets laboratory benchmarks

           Follows safety requirements including the appropriate use of safety glasses, gloves, lab coats

           IDC sample requirements are met    

           Company procedures and policies adhered to

           Turnaround times achieved
