What are ventures?

Ventures typically refer to new business initiatives, startups, or entrepreneurial projects that are created to pursue innovative ideas or market opportunities. These can be independent startups or projects launched within existing companies, often with the goal of rapid growth and scalability. People working in ventures are involved in tasks like identifying opportunities, securing funding, building teams, and developing products or services. The field is dynamic and involves a mix of risk-taking, strategic planning, and adaptability to changing market conditions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Venture Capital Associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Venture Capital Associate, you need strong analytical skills, financial modeling expertise, and a background in business, finance, or a related field—often supported by an MBA or similar degree. Familiarity with tools like Excel, CRM software, and industry databases, as well as knowledge of due diligence processes, is essential. Networking ability, curiosity, and effective communication are standout soft skills for sourcing deals and building relationships with entrepreneurs. These skills are crucial for identifying high-potential startups and making sound investment decisions that drive portfolio success.

How does working in a Ventures role typically involve collaboration with cross-functional teams?

In a Ventures position, collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, as you'll often work closely with product, legal, finance, and marketing departments to evaluate new business opportunities and drive innovation. This collaborative environment helps ensure that potential investments or startup initiatives align with the overall strategy and operational capabilities of the organization. Effective communication skills and adaptability are key, as projects may require input from diverse stakeholders and rapid iteration based on feedback. Engaging with various teams not only enhances project outcomes but also provides valuable learning and networking opportunities within the company.

Circle (NYSE: CRCL) is one of the world's leading internet financial platform companies, building the foundation of a more open, global economy through digital assets, payment applications, and programmable blockchain infrastructure. Circle's platform includes the world's largest regulated stablecoin network anchored by USDC, Circle Payments Network for global money movement, and Arc, an enterprise-grade blockchain designed to become the Economic OS for the internet. What you'll be part of:

Circle is committed to visibility and stability in everything we do. As we grow as an organization, we're expanding into some of the world's strongest jurisdictions. Speed and efficiency are motivators for our success and our employees live by our company values: High Integrity, Future Forward, Multistakeholder, Mindful, and Driven by Excellence. We have built a flexible work environment where new ideas are encouraged and everyone is a stakeholder.

What you'll be responsible for:

Circle is looking for an experienced leader to evolve and build Circle Ventures at the frontier of internet-native finance. How we invest and partner will shape the ecosystem around USDC, programmable money, and next-generation financial infrastructure. This role combines strategy, program design, driving investor influence, venture investing, and ecosystem leadership; defining the brand, systems, and investment theses; sourcing and executing high-conviction investments; and converting portfolio relationships into durable strategic advantage for Circle.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience building and leading venture investment programs (e.g. the Arc Builders Fund), alongside a nuanced understanding of fintech, crypto, and emerging financial infrastructure. Equally important are strong communication skills (written and oral), executive presence, cross-functional influence, and the ability to translate market insight into actionable strategy, building not just a portfolio, but a systematic engine that extends Circle's reach and impact across the global digital economy.

You will be a senior leader on the Corporate Development and Ventures team. We aspire to:

  • Deliver best-in-class strategic insight and deal execution through analytical rigor, sound judgment, operational excellence, scalable systems, and appropriate hustle.

  • Collaborate across Circle to align priorities, surface strong decisions, and drive measurable impact.

  • Build and maintain a powerful network of founders, funds, and ecosystem leaders to expand Circle's opportunity and access to information.

  • Generate insights that clarify where and how Circle teams can engage for maximum strategic leverage.

  • Use emerging technologies and structured processes to detect signals in the noise-and convert insight into action.

  • Raise the bar through candid feedback, mentorship, and continuous improvement in how we operate together.

What you'll work on:

  • Managing the operating model for Circle Ventures, defining how capital deployment translates into measurable ecosystem growth.

  • Designing new strategic initiatives that align with Circle's product and commercial roadmap.

  • Transforming our network of 140+ portfolio companies into a structured "knowledge engine," turning unstructured insights into actionable alpha.

  • Owning the pre- and post-investment lifecycle, building cross-functional workflows between our Business, Legal, Marketing, and Developer Relations teams.

  • Building investment theses and other content that informs our approach and communications.

What you'll bring to Circle:

Core Requirements:

  • 12+ years of experience in venture investing, corporate development, investment banking, consulting, or other relevant roles, with a demonstrated track record of cross functional and external engagement building systems and programs.

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity with a bias toward structured execution and a comfort "rolling your sleeves up" to take on any task, big or small.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to distill complex concepts into clear insights and recommendations that influence and inspire others.

  • Excellent intrinsic capabilities, including strong quantitative and analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong executive presence, high motivation, low ego, deep intellectual curiosity.

  • Ability to build relationships (internally and externally) and drive projects/deals in a rapid paced corporate and industry environment.

  • Experience in assessing industries, trends, futures and the ability to distill and articulate the most important drivers.

  • Familiarity with generative AI models (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) and prompt development.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required with an Economics, Finance, Business, Technology or related discipline preferred.

  • Deep understanding and experience in Fintech and Capital Markets and/or Web3/Crypto.

  • Experience/familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS and GSuite.

Additional Information:

  • This position is eligible for day-one PERM sponsorship for qualified candidates.
