What are ventures?

Ventures typically refer to new business initiatives, startups, or entrepreneurial projects that are created to pursue innovative ideas or market opportunities. These can be independent startups or projects launched within existing companies, often with the goal of rapid growth and scalability. People working in ventures are involved in tasks like identifying opportunities, securing funding, building teams, and developing products or services. The field is dynamic and involves a mix of risk-taking, strategic planning, and adaptability to changing market conditions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Venture Capital Associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Venture Capital Associate, you need strong analytical skills, financial modeling expertise, and a background in business, finance, or a related field—often supported by an MBA or similar degree. Familiarity with tools like Excel, CRM software, and industry databases, as well as knowledge of due diligence processes, is essential. Networking ability, curiosity, and effective communication are standout soft skills for sourcing deals and building relationships with entrepreneurs. These skills are crucial for identifying high-potential startups and making sound investment decisions that drive portfolio success.

How does working in a Ventures role typically involve collaboration with cross-functional teams?

In a Ventures position, collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, as you'll often work closely with product, legal, finance, and marketing departments to evaluate new business opportunities and drive innovation. This collaborative environment helps ensure that potential investments or startup initiatives align with the overall strategy and operational capabilities of the organization. Effective communication skills and adaptability are key, as projects may require input from diverse stakeholders and rapid iteration based on feedback. Engaging with various teams not only enhances project outcomes but also provides valuable learning and networking opportunities within the company.

Job description

The Opportunity

Adobe generated ~$24B revenue in FY 2025 and has completed ~$10B in strategic acquisitions since 2018. Our Corporate Development team strategically identifies, sources, evaluates, and implement Adobe's inorganic growth roadmap, including acquisitions and investments. We are looking for grounded, thoughtful, and collaborative teammates to drive Adobe shareholder value through exceptional, ground-breaking opportunities

Adobe Ventures is our strategic VC program. We invest in exceptional founders and start-ups who share our vision to empower everyone to create. The Senior Manager role is crucial on Adobe's Corporate Development team. They source and evaluate investment opportunities, deliver deals, and support portfolio growth to improve strategic value for Adobe and its investments. I work with deal teams, business unit (BU) sponsors, and internal and external collaborators to improve strategic value for Adobe and its portfolio companies.

  • Craft compelling investment narratives and materials, such as briefs and pre-IC/IC memos. These should explain why now is the right time and why this team is the best fit. Work with partners in legal, finance, and other areas to complete investments.

Portfolio Management

  • Serve as the bridge between portfolio companies and Adobe-driving key introductions, advancing priority workstreams, and enabling partnerships (including commercial relationships) including via the Adobe Ventures Advisory Board.
  • Develop and track comprehensive value metrics, including partnerships, product integration, commercial outcomes, and learning opportunities, and regularly synthesize/report progress and impact.
  • Marketing, Events, Communications and Operations
  • Own Ventures events and marketing across key moments (Tech Week, MAX/Summit activations) and channels (social, web, external comms).
  • Track event/networking conversion to qualified deal flow; report insights and optimization actions.
  • Lead Ventures internal communications and enablement with cross-functional partners (Comms, Adobe.com, Brand Social), including employee updates and All Hands.
  • Produce year-end Ventures performance recap for executives covering investments, partnership wins, brand/program updates, and events.
  • Manage Ventures operating cadence and hygiene, partnering with Ventures Ops.

What is needed to succeed

  • Interest and experience in Adobe's key businesses (Creativity & Productivity, Customer Experience Orchestration).
  • Demonstrated network of relevant high-growth tech founders and industry contacts.

  • Attention to detail. Strong work ethic. Proactive self-starter. Calm under pressure. Able to adapt to fast paced, ambiguous environments. High learning agility. Consummate teammate.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including presentation and memo formats. Strong spoken communication skills.
  • 5-8 years of cumulative experience in corporate VC, corporate development, investment banking, or venture capital / private equity. Experience in product, operations, SaaS, consumer tech, and enterprise software are a plus.
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience from a top university in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or similar field; MBA is preferred. years of equivalent practical experience
