What is a venture intern?

Venture Interns are students or early-career professionals who work with venture capital firms to gain hands-on experience in the investment and startup ecosystem. They assist with tasks such as market research, sourcing startups, due diligence, and supporting portfolio companies. This role provides valuable exposure to the venture capital industry and helps interns build a network and skill set relevant for a future career in investing, startups, or entrepreneurship.

What does a venture intern do?

As a Venture Intern, you can expect to work closely with investment teams on tasks such as market research, sourcing potential startups, conducting due diligence, and preparing investment memos. Interns often attend founder meetings, help analyze industry trends, and may assist with portfolio support activities. The role is typically fast-paced and collaborative, offering exposure to the full investment process and frequent opportunities to interact with both internal team members and external founders. This hands-on experience helps interns build valuable analytical and networking skills relevant for a future career in venture capital or startups.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a venture intern?

To thrive as a Venture Intern, you need strong analytical abilities, research skills, and a foundational understanding of finance or business, often supported by current enrollment in a relevant degree program. Job description

Our Corporate Venture team, NexBreak Venture, is seeking a Growth Engineer Intern to ideate, validate, and launch AI-native products from concept to early traction, with a specific focus on engineering the growth mechanics that turn a prototype into a scalable business.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • This is a 01 builder position for someone who can code growth loops, instrument experiments, and drive measurable traction, not just recommend it.
  • Design, build, and ship technical growth mechanisms: acquisition funnels, onboarding flows, referral/viral loops, activation triggers, and monetization experiments.
  • Stand up lightweight analytics and experimentation infrastructure (tracking, A/B testing, cohort analysis) to measure what's working and iterate fast.
  • Rapidly prototype and test growth hypotheses across new AI products, then hand off winning mechanics to product teams.

Must have:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field from a top-tier university. MBA a plus, not required.
  • Strong, hands-on coding ability (able to build and ship, not just spec) - Python/SQL/JS or similar, plus familiarity with growth/analytics tooling.
  • 3+ years of experience in growth engineering, software engineering, or a technical product/growth/GTM/monetization role.
  • Founder's mindset, builder's mentality, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence - able to turn experiment data into a clear recommendation for decision-makers.

Bonus point:

  • Passion for innovative technologies and artificial intelligence, with a strong pulse on key trends, themes and players
Hourly Pay: $40- $60
