Job description

Job Summary: Performs various duties involving the repair maintenance and operation of vending machines money changing machines and Micro Markets. Operates a motor vehicle through the geographical area and on public roads for long and short trips.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Makes repairs to broken machines locates worn dirty poorly adjusted parts through visual preventative maintenance check or use of test equipment replaces defective parts of components and system such as tubing and electrical circuits makes necessary modifications on machines.
  • Performs periodic overhauls on machines including spray painting reconnecting loose wires checking refrigeration system to ensure maintenance of proper temperatures cleans interior checks for defects ensures wire harnesses are together and checks for short circuiting. Also sanitizes for bacteria.
  • Replaces and or repairs such items as defective circuit elements printed circuit boards miniaturized integrated circuits transformers capacitors resistors etc. Completes necessary alignments and adjustments of the various components and assembles according to specifications makes final operational test and adjustments prior to release of equipment.
  • Maintains stocks of parts tools and equipment in an orderly manner. Ensures tools are properly protected to prevent rusting and loss.
  • Maintains service and technical manuals up-to-date. Prepares requisition of required parts to supervisor for procurement. Notifies supervisor of major problems encountered.
  • Relocates and installs new machines at location. Makes setting and adjustments on food dispensing liquid dispensing and coin changer units. Cleans interior and exterior using appropriate cleaning solution. Prepares Cash Collection Slip DP 411 .
  • Maintains Exchange owned machines daily. Inspects and replenishes with hot cold foods sandwiches cakes pies popcorn salads fruits pastry soda yogurt laundry detergent and or miscellaneous items etc. Checks refrigerated machines to ensure health codes are adhered to i.e. expiration dates of yogurt sandwiches etc. and foods are not spoiled. Removes aged foods or other merchandise from machines.
  • Sets up and maintains prices in vending machines on items being sold.
  • Collects monies from vending machines at locations according to established schedule and secures money inside vehicle safe. As required accompanies Vending Contractors verifying case taken from vendor owned machines. Clears coin jams and makes refunds at designated locations.
  • Turns in collected money bags and SS 411 forms for machines services to NEX Cash Room cage in accordance with established procedures.
  • Responsible for assigned permanent change fund and verifies daily.
  • Maintains vending machines vehicles stockroom and handling equipment in accordance with established procedures and Navy Guidelines.
  • Is responsible for the inventory control of products. Completes weekly truck inventory.
  • Maintains liaison with location management and customers to develop a positive customer relations atmosphere. Carries out policies with premier customer service.
  • Receives and verifies various vending merchandise deliveries and stocks and secures merchandise within the vending warehouse and or vending truck.
  • Operates motor vehicle in the performance of duties. Loads and unloads merchandise by hand or dolly etc. Insures that merchandise is protected from damaged or bad weather. Prepares and maintains Daily Trip Report of all trips made.
  • Performs inspection of vehicle for proper maintenance such as checking gas and oil change tune-ups etc. Cleans vehicle and secures in designed area at the end of day. Obtains receipt for all repairs and maintains records of repairs made. Does preventative maintenance on vehicles to include checking oil and fluids.
  • May be assigned to clean and maintain in a clean and orderly manner the area in which machines are located sweeps mops floors cleans machines and empties trash cans.
  • Assist in the Micro Market to ensure equipment is maintained and during demanding business needs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL EFFORT Works on location or at the shop in performing repairs. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing 40 pounds occasionally objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Constantly stands bends stoops walks stretches and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions in the performance of duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS Most work is performed inside and outside. Incumbent is occasionally exposed to bad weather conditions dirt dust and grease. Drives in all types of weather. Subject to bruises cuts shocks etc. when servicing repairing vending machine components.
JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Must possess a valid state driver s license or a valid commercial driver s license CDL . 2. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely. 3. Must be able to pass appropriate background checks needed for the specific area of responsibility e.g. Federal DOD Security Clearance etc. . 4. Pass the GSA defensive driving course
GENERAL EXPERIENCE One year of experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of general repair of vending machines in wholesale retail service or recreational establishments.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.
AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE Three years of repair work involving the maintenance and operations of vending machines money changing machines etc. Capable of installing troubleshooting repairing and adjusting a variety of components assemblies and systems such as refrigeration dispensing electrical coin-handling and evaporation systems. Candidates must possess a valid state drivers license or a valid commercial driver s license CDL and consistent record of safe driving.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Standing stooping bending kneeling climbing and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries material weighing up to 30 pounds.
