Job Summary
This is an exciting new engineering position for a highly-motivated, energetic and experienced Sr. Mechanical Engineer who wants to be part of fast-growing
Velodyne LiDAR. You have a "can do" attitude and will be contributing to the design and development of our next generation LiDAR products.
We seek to hire a Sr. Mechanical Engineer who is experienced with advance knowledge of mechanical engineering and design, to proof-of-concept experiments, new
product development, and product enhancements.
Job Responsibilities
Hands-on design and test of LiDAR products with multiple laser emitters and sensors.
Develop conceptual and final mechanical and electro-mechanical products, tooling and fixtures, using SolidWorks 2016.
Perform tolerance analyses and complete GD&T specifications.
Generate and maintain schedules and conduct brainstorming sessions and design reviews.
Key team member, helping to identify and qualify suppliers for the design and/or delivery of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-assemblies and
tooling.
Deliver and document requirements, designs and assembly and validation procedures.
Responsible for smooth and timely NPI into manufacturing (in-house and at partners).
Adhere to, and improve, product development and qualification procedures.

Qualifications

Job Requirments
Hands-on and recent experience with SolidWorks 2016.
Experienced with mechanical and electro-mechanical component design, build and test.
Experience with 3D printing and machine tools.
Experienced with low cost/high volume product design and validation.
Proven project and team leadership skills.
Experienced with developing and delivering low-mix and medium-volume electro-mechanical products for the consumer and/or instrumentation market or equivalent.
Familiar with PLM processes and tools such MS Project and Agile, Arena or equivalent.
Experience with working with external partners and suppliers on time-critical projects.
Team player, self-motivated and open-minded.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
10+ years of relevant experience.
Education Requirements
MS in Mechanical Engineering
