Location: Position requires a full-time presence in Durham, NC
Base Salary Range: $90,000 - 115,000 per year (Final compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Construction Project Manager to manage the construction program of IONNA charging network. As part of the Deployment department, the successful candidate will take the design-phase team's scopes and pricing and translate them into on-time, on-budget project delivery that is safe, reliable, and aligned with company standards. This role will also implement processes and controls to effectively manage and manage IONNA General Contracting partners.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and oversee the construction of DC fast-charging installations and associated site amenities, ensuring high-quality execution, follow design specifications, and alignment with safety, schedule, and budget targets.
  2. Develop, manage, and continuously optimize project schedules, budgets, and resource-allocation plans to ensure predictable, efficient, and cost-effective execution across all construction activities.
  3. Manage the operational-plan handoff from construction execution to Site Operations teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and seamless transitions across the construction lifecycle.
  4. Coordinate with external contractors, utility providers, and local authorities throughout the full construction and commissioning cycle to ensure compliance, timely approvals, and seamless project execution.
  5. Ensure charging stations meet speed, quality, and reliability goals by a following internal performance metrics, engineering standards, and commissioning-process requirements.
  6. Manage awarded contracts with IONNA's qualified vendors, ensuring all deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.
  7. Own construction budgets and schedules by tracking all project costs, approving contractor and vendor payment requests, and proactively minimizing potential change orders to maintain financial and timeline integrity.
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of development processes across multiple Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including city inspections, permitting pathways, and zoning regulations that influence site location and construction practices.
  9. Take the lead on resolving design issues quickly, driving cross-functional collaboration and implementing effective, timely solutions to maintain project momentum.
  10. Hold pre-construction meetings with the General Contractor (GC) and Engineer of Record (EOR) to review the scope of work, validate site design details, and ensure alignment prior to mobilization.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • Sites Live = Total number of charging sites successfully opened to the public within the reporting period.
  • OSHA Recordables = Number of OSHA recordables across full portfolio of active projects.
  • Variance to Construction Budget = Percentage variance between planned construction costs and actual expenditures, reflecting cost-control effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in high-volume construction project management, with a focus on infrastructure development. Relevant project types may include, but are not limited to:
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations
  • Fuel stations or convenience stores
  • Telecommunications infrastructure (e.g., Wireless Civil, D.A.S, FTTH, OSP, ISP)
  • Renewable energy installations (e.g., solar farms, wind turbines)
  • Utility focused infrastructure projects
  • An established track record of executing construction projects across multiple regions, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and utility partners.
  • Good communication and project-management skills, enabling effective coordination and progress with key stakeholders.
  • Foundational organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, with a willingness to continue developing this skill through hands-on project experience.
