Salary: $57k - $65k

Job Summary: 

The Manager, Buy the Pound Operations –Gorham works under the direction of the Director, Retail Aftermarket and Wholesale Operations to maintain efficient Buy the Pound operations. The Manager, Buy the Pound Operations furthers the organization commitment to achieving triple bottom line results: integrating social, economic and environmental goals into thinking, planning and action. They are responsible for providing outstanding customer service while maintaining a clean, organized and safe warehouse. The Manager, Buy the Pound creates a positive employee and customer experience by modeling Goodwill’s mission and citizenship behaviors at all times.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:


• Ensures best-in-class customer and employee experience
• Successfully performs all managerial functions that pertain to the daily activities of Buy the Pound operations
• Manages the hiring, training and safety of teammates                                                                                                                                    • Establishes and understands production goals and monitors progress against those goals
• Receives donations, provides donation receipts, and assist donors to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Seeks to correct significant variance's and notify Manager
• Maintains positive relationships between departments through concise and consistent communication.
• Works with internal equipment maintenance personnel to ensure consistent equipment operations.
• Coordinates daily staffing needs for Buy the Pound Operations shifts with production and safety priorities.
• Interviews/hires new personnel
• Trains personnel on policies, job duties, and procedures.
• Maintains premises to ensure adequate security and compliance with safety and environmental codes and ordinances as well Agency's health and safety standards.
• Provides necessary and adequate supplies to ensure teams meet their goals.
• Establishes and maintains records as directed including production, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, payroll, invoicing and shipping, and other records required by the Agency or by applicable law.
• Closes register and cashes out; totals and summarizes funds received endorses checks, and prepares bank deposit slip and deposit funds at bank.
• Manages activities of personnel; assign duties and schedule break periods, work hours, and vacations.
• Ensures that store opening/closing procedures are followed; secure all premises.
• Participates in performance management, including disciplinary actions, staff assignments and writing year end reviews.
• Operates department within budgetary guidelines and makes appropriate recommendations to maximize efficiency


Minimum Qualifications: 

• Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude in order to be a great teammate, role model and effective leader
• High School diploma or GED required
• Two years of experience in warehouse or production supervision or related field
• Demonstrated working knowledge with various material handling machinery and vehicles
• Ability to be certified to operate forklift within 30-days of hire
• Demonstrated ability to provide supervision and instruction to a diverse workforce.
• Valid driver’s license permitting operation of a vehicle with a safe driving record
• Criminal background check that meets Agency standards

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Associates Degree or equivalent experience
• Certified to operate forklift
• Experience working in a high volume fast paced work environment.
• Demonstrates ability to successfully meet sales and production goals.

Physical Effort/Occupational Risks

• Ability to stand and move about for extended periods of time with only short rest breaks; reach, bend, stoop to handle product.
• Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
• Medium Work – Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
