Full Stack Developer

As a Full Stack Developer at Cryptic Vector, you'll design, build, and develop full-spectrum software solutions that directly address some of the most complex technical challenges facing government missions today. Working in secure, high-stakes environments, you'll own end-to-end development-from intuitive user interfaces to robust back-end processing and data infrastructure-delivering mission-critical capabilities that perform reliably when it matters most. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, mission stakeholders, and external partners to translate requirements into production-ready systems that support national security objectives.

If you thrive on solving complex problems and seeing your work running in production environments that protect national interests and drive operational success, then we want to talk to you!

Responsibilities

  • Develop new features and applications while modernizing and enhancing existing legacy codebases to improve performance, security, and maintainability
  • Create detailed API specifications, design RESTful or other interfaces, and integrate with external/third-party APIs and services
  • Design and implement responsive, user-focused front-end interfaces using modern frameworks (React/Angular), HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Architect and build back-end processing logic and services for complex, data-intensive applications using Python, and/or Node.js
  • Design, implement, and optimize database schemas, queries, and storage solutions using SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security
  • Develop and maintain scripting automation in Bash, Python, or other languages to support deployment, data processing, and tooling
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code following best practices for readability, extensibility, and security across the full stack
  • Implement comprehensive automated testing suites: unit tests, integration tests, functional/end-to-end tests, and performance/stress testing to validate behavior across environments
  • Provide technical leadership in software architecture discussions, including trade-off analyses, design patterns, and recommendations for scalable, secure solutions
  • Produce clear, professional documentation including code comments, API references, architecture diagrams, deployment instructions, and user-facing materials
  • Engage directly with end users and stakeholders to gather feedback, demonstrate features, and iterate on solutions
  • Perform thorough, constructive code reviews to uphold code quality, security standards, and team consistency
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across the full stack, from UI rendering to database performance and API integrations
  • Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field (or equivalent professional experience demonstrating comparable depth)
  • 3+ years of professional experience in full-stack development, with proven work on front-end and/or back-end components in production environments
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one modern front-end framework (React preferred; Angular acceptable), along with HTML5 and CSS for building responsive UIs
  • Solid experience with back-end development in Python, including API design, implementation, and server-side logic (experience with Node.js is a plus)
  • Hands-on experience with relational (SQL) and/or NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies, including story-point estimation, sprint participation, and iterative delivery
  • Familiarity with version control and CI/CD tools (GitLab preferred)
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail in code, testing, and requirements
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) and understanding of testing best practices
  • Proficiency in Bash or other scripting languages for automation tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in government, defense, or intelligence community projects, with awareness of security/compliance considerations (e.g., handling classified data, secure coding practices)
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration basics (Kubernetes) for deployment
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred) for hosting and scaling applications
  • Contributions to code quality through tools like linters, static analysis, or automated pipelines
