Job description

EBA Engineering is proactively building a qualified Construction Inspector pipeline for VDOT work anticipated to begin in Spring 2026. This posting is intended to identify and connect with inspectors interested in future assignments in the Fredericksburg, Culpeper, and Northern Virginia (NOVA) districts, as well as other potential locations.

This requisition will remain open as we continuously accept applications for future construction inspection opportunities. Your Responsibilities:

In your role as a Construction Inspector, your primary duties will include:

  • Conducting thorough inspections of roadway, structure, and bridge construction/maintenance projects to ensure quality control and contract compliance.
  • Communicating inspection findings through clear and concise written reports and verbal communication.
  • Applying mathematical principles, including algebra and geometry, to perform accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Using materials testing equipment to assess quality and durability.
  • Preparing and maintaining project records using contract management and Microsoft 365 software.

Core Requirements:

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and characteristics:

  • A current and valid driver's license
  • A high school diploma or a high school equivalent certification
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Ability to use materials testing equipment effectively
  • Competence in personal computers (Windows and MS Office applications) and project/contract management software
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds; walking over rough and uneven terrain; standing for up to 12 hours a day on occasion; bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting; using hands to grasp and reach; raising hands above the head; sitting; climbing; and balancing
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and terrains is necessary

  • VDOT Asphalt Field Level I & II
  • VDOT Pavement Marking
  • VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I
  • Virginia DEQ Certification for Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection
  • GRIT (Guardrail Certification)
  • Virginia DEQ Stormwater Management (Inspector) Certification
  • OSHA 10 Construction Safety Training
  • Nuclear Gauge Safety Training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Virginia Department of Transportation projects
