At VCI Construction, as an Estimator I, you will develop and maintain strong relationships with VCI's current customers as well as develop new business relationships. Complete and assemble bids for both private and public dry utility construction projects with various values. VCI is an underground and aerial contractor that specializes in full-service installation of "dry" utilities. This includes design, installation and maintenance of voice, video, and data transmission systems. VCI has built an outstanding reputation for quality service and performance that customers can rely on and is a stable, well-respected, financially sound company with a highly experienced management team.

What you'll do
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and investigate project sites
  • Review and understand all bid documents, including plans and specifications.
  • Conduct accurate material take-offs and request quotes from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Estimate labor and equipment resources required for jobs.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and negotiate purchase orders.
  • Review final bids with senior management.
  • Assist with permits, licenses, and prepare project submittals.
  • Develop and coordinate production tracking and prepare project schedules.
  • Manage project turnover meetings, foreman's packs, and change order tracking

What you'll need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • 5 to 7 years' experience in underground dry utility pipeline construction.
  • Knowledge and Experience in Bid2Win (B2W) a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. (Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project)
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both written and oral forms (bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus).
  • Demonstrates a strong capacity to quickly adapt by learning new skills and unlearning outdated ones.
  • Ability to apply logical principles and thinking to solve problems and make effective decisions.
  • Willing to perform work that supports the values, quality, goals and objectives of the company.
  • Experience in the development and construction of other telecom/data infrastructures domestically or abroad is a plus.

The wage range for Estimator I is $75,000.00 - $90,000.00
