Job description

Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician at VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center

Compensation:

Starting range is determined by license, skill set, and years of experience in the field. Financial growth opportunities available.

Schedule:Full-time opportunity, Swing/2nd shift, 2 pm -12 am.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technician who enjoys utilizing advanced technical skills, critical thinking, and compassionate nursing care in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency and critically ill patients.

  • Collaborate closely with ER Doctors, Specialists, and fellow technicians.

  • Perform triage assessments and assist with patient stabilization.

  • Utilize advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, oxygen therapy, and blood transfusion support.

  • Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients, recognizing subtle changes in patient status and communicating findings to the medical team.

  • Assist with emergency procedures and advanced treatments.

  • Educate clients and provide clear discharge instructions.

  • Help create a positive, collaborative environment focused on outstanding patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (CVT) or eligible to sit for the VTNE.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced and often high-stress environment
