Title
Materials Technician- PRN/Variable Shift- Kalamazoo
The Materials Technician I provides a comprehensive array of supply chain services throughout the organization. Primary responsibilities include supply and linen inventory and replenishment, receiving and distribution, equipment management, and mail center duties. All team members are expected to consistently deliver the highest level of service to all customers; demonstrate a willingness and desire to work as part of a team and contribute to a safe and positive work environment; work independently and manage time effectively; follow standards and pay attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 year related experience and/or training required.
  • Dependent on job responsibilities, a valid Michigan driver's license and insurability through Bronson's carrier may be required.
  • Basic knowledge of PAR inventory and replenishment.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Possess sound math, counting, and analytical skills and have the ability to move quickly throughout the hospital on stat calls.
  • Demonstrate accountability, initiative, and urgency.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task, and prioritize.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills with customers and team members via telephone and face to face in a manner that is reflective of our mission, values, and customer service standards.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work as a team member in a variety of situations.
  • Effectively use technology and the Materials Management Information Systems.
  • Maintain supplies and linen by way of accurate PAR level inventory counts.
  • Accountable for controlling utilization of materials and monitoring PAR levels.
  • Accurately verify, retrieve, and/or distribute supplies, materials, and equipment to corresponding departments, including off-site locations as required.
  • Organize and monitor supplies for expiration dates and package integrity to ensure sterilization is not compromised.
  • Knowledge of healthcare products and their basic use.
  • Work which rarely produces a high level of mental/visual fatigue, i.e., less than 20 percent of the work time.
  • Maintain a safe workplace by keeping work area free of hazards and correcting and/or properly reporting any safety hazards.
  • Uses correct body positioning, proper body mechanics to avoid injury, utilize safe work practices and use personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.
