Job Description

SUMMARY

The Product Engineer is responsible for providing engineering knowledge, support and maintaining all applicable data and systems relating to product specifications. This position requires continuous involvement in the areas of product development, testing, maintaining, and enhancing current designs. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a team environment interacting daily with sales personnel, engineering, and manufacturing. An equally important part of this role is the continuous and direct involvement with shop floor operations and the products manufactured by Kennedy Valve.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • On a routine basis, the engineer is required to work on the shop floor and with shop floor personnel, in various areas and includes assembling, testing, and painting products (production work).
  • This role also requires the use of hand and power tools to disassemble various products in order to ensure proper fit, form, function and retrieve and measurements needed to produce drawings.
  • Many products and assembled systems require 3rd party inspection, and it is the engineer's role to assist in the assembly process and ensure that said systems meet the requirements, including specific types of testing (I.e. Holiday Free Paint).
  • Tasked in developing product drawings that are suitably geared toward and in line with current manufacturing processes and lean efforts.
  • Travel may be required for product related field issues and/or agency testing
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Have extensive valve or mechanical construction experience.
  • Interpretation drawings including individual parts, assembly, customer site drawings and sketches.
  • Solid knowledge and experience in the use of CAD systems (3D modeling and 2D drawings)
  • Familiarity with reading plans and specifications is desired.
