Southern Valve & Fitting USA, Inc. (SOVAL) is a family-owned company with over 50 years of experience supplying high-quality valves, fittings, and flow control products throughout North America. As we continue to grow, we are launching a new Valve Automation Division at our Cheyenne, Wyoming facility.
This is a unique opportunity to help build our automation operation from the ground up. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on professional who wants more than just another job. The right candidate will play a key role in developing our automation processes, assembling high-quality automated valve packages, and helping establish SOVAL as a recognized leader in valve automation.

Position Summary
The Valve Automation & Actuation Technician will be responsible for assembling, mounting, wiring, testing, and documenting electric and pneumatic actuators on SOVAL butterfly valves, plug valves, and other quarter-turn valves. In addition to technical responsibilities, this individual will assist in developing standard operating procedures, recommending equipment and tooling, improving workflow, and supporting the growth of SOVAL's new automation division.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assemble and automate SOVAL butterfly and plug valves.
  • Install electric and pneumatic actuators using ISO 5211 mounting standards.
  • Mount brackets, couplers, and hardware.
  • Wire electric actuators and verify proper operation.
  • Assemble pneumatic actuator packages including solenoids, limit switches, regulators, and accessories.
  • Perform operational testing and quality inspections.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Prepare testing documentation and quality records.
  • Maintain inventory of automation components.
  • Work closely with sales to recommend actuator solutions and support customer quotations.
  • Help develop standard work instructions and best practices as the department grows.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in valve automation, industrial maintenance, controls, or mechanical assembly.
  • Experience with electric and/or pneumatic valve actuators.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using torque tools, measuring equipment, and hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently while helping establish new processes.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with quarter-turn valves.
  • Familiarity with actuator manufacturers such as Rotork, AUMA, Limitorque, Bettis, Bray, or similar.
  • Knowledge of ISO 5211 mounting standards.
  • Experience with quality documentation and testing procedures.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
