Job Title: eCommerce Merchandise Processor
Department: Donated Goods Program (DGP)
Reports to: Manager, eCommerce (eComm) and Sales Operations
Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
Responsible for identifying, evaluating, researching, and preparing donated merchandise for online auction and e-commerce sales channels. This role plays a critical part in maximizing revenue by recognizing high-value, collectible, designer, vintage, and specialty items that may generate greater value through online marketplaces than traditional retail sales. Ensure valuable merchandise is accurately processed, researched, photographed, listed, and prepared for shipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review, sort, and inspect donated merchandise to identify items with potential e-commerce or auction value.
  • Recognize and separate high-value merchandise including:
    • Designer apparel and accessories
    • Luxury handbags and footwear
    • Collectibles and memorabilia
    • Vintage and antique items
    • Electronics and gaming equipment
    • Sporting goods
    • Musical instruments
    • Art and specialty merchandise
  • Assess merchandise condition, completeness, and resale potential.
  • Stay current on market trends, popular brands, collectibles, and resale values.
  • Utilize pricing tools, marketplaces, and research platforms to determine estimated market value.
  • Safeguard company property, including donated goods.
  • Report any incident of theft or unauthorized possession of company property.
  • Receive work and safety instructions and answer questions.
  • Perform other duties as directed by management to support evolving organizational needs.

  • Ability to multitask, make quick decisions, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Must be punctual, maintain a professional appearance, and perform expected duties.
  • Must perform all duties according to GWH safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping standards, and ensure all walkways are clear and free of clutter.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • A high School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand safety instructions, standard operating procedures, and workplace communications.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of e-commerce, thrift, consignment, auction, or inventory experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of brands, collectibles, antiques, fashion trends, and resale markets preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to conduct internet-based product research.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to accurately evaluate merchandise conditions and quality.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment. GWH does not offer visa sponsorship for employment purposes.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
  • Regular twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and, occasionally, lift/move items up to 100 lbs. (e.g., large bags of donations, televisions, furniture, etc.)
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate indoor noise with periodic exposure to outside temperatures.
