Job description

This position represents a unique opportunity to provide valuations expertise within a private equity environment, working with leadership on new investments, performance monitoring and valuation of the current fundโ€™s portfolio.

This hire will be primarily responsible for determining the fair value of investments and providing insight to management on status of the investments.This leader will be responsible for:

Position Summary:

  • Prepare and present detailed valuation analysis; including analysis of the transaction structure, market data, adopted methodology, reserves/valuation adjustments and any relevant regulatory, risk or accounting considerations
  • Perform valuation procedures using best practices of valuation methodologies, in accordance with ASC for 820 Fair Value; ensure model appropriateness and perform independent modeling of transactions required
  • Work with the trading desk to review quotes from brokers and pricing vendors and monitor the reasonableness of quotes received
  • Review valuations with asset managers to understand fluctuations in valuations
  • Assist in the on-going analysis of the portfolio by tracking significant events for each asset, reviewing valuation models, key assumptions and cash flow projections
  • Determine and track relevant model inputs and KPIs to assist in performance reporting and management decision making
  • Review credit contractual agreements, structuring for transactions and risk
  • Work with third party valuation providers and external auditors during their quarterly/annual reviews of the investment portfolios
  • Coordinate with tax, investor relations, valuation committee, fund accounting, operations, and risk teams on reporting, reconciliations, and investment structuring

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
  • CFA, preferred but not required
  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics
  • Exposure to building/reviewing valuation models and/or other financial models including: DCF, comparable company, forecasts and other models
  • Knowledge of private equity credit, structured products, or private equity preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to connect, collaborate and communicate effectively to all levels of valuation knowledge and internal hierarchy
