Job Summary:

The Area Sales Manager will play a critical role in supporting the Valir Hospice growth strategy by providing leadership, organization, and training to the hospice consultant team. This position will be responsible for overseeing, guiding, and supporting hospice consultants in their respective territories to ensure alignment with sales goals and overall business objectives. 

The Area Sales Manager will assist in organizing day-to-day sales operations, providing ongoing training and mentorship, and facilitating clear communication with intake, clinical, and operational hospice teams. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary support resource for hospice consultants in the field to ensure they meet or exceed established goals and objectives. 
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining consultant schedules, territory planning, and prospecting strategies to maximize outreach efforts and referral growth. 
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to hospice consultants, including real-time coaching and feedback to enhance sales performance and territory management. 
  • Monitor individual and team performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing actionable recommendations. 
  • Ensure team proficiency in understanding hospice services, company protocols, and consultative sales techniques. 
  • Provide education and guidance on referral development, objection handling, and customer relationship management strategies. 
  • Conduct joint field visits with consultants to observe, evaluate, and provide constructive coaching. 
  • Act as a liaison between the hospice consultant team, intake team, and clinical/operational teams to ensure seamless communication and operational efficiency. 
  • Collaborate with intake coordinators to troubleshoot issues related to referral processing and ensure a positive experience for referring partners and families. 
  • Partner with the hospice care team to maintain a deep understanding of patient care needs, ensuring alignment between the business development strategy and clinical priorities. 
  • Communicate key field insights, trends, and challenges to the Director of Business Development to inform strategic decisions. 
  • Assist consultants with CRM system utilization to ensure accurate tracking of referral sources, prospecting efforts, and pipeline development. 
  • Provide tools, templates, and resources to streamline field operations and enhance productivity for the hospice consultant team. 
  • Analyze referral data and territory performance to identify trends and opportunities for growth. 
  • Support the Director of Business Development with reporting needs, including weekly performance updates and progress on business objectives. 
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business development, sales management, or a related leadership role, preferably in hospice, home health, or healthcare services.
  • Proven track record of successfully coaching and mentoring sales professionals to meet or exceed goals.
