Position Overview

Mercy Vale Behavioral Health Center is excited to announce an opportunity for a Telehealth Licensed Mental Health Counselor. This full-time position allows you to provide crucial mental health services remotely, enabling clients to receive support in a convenient and accessible manner. As a skilled professional in this role, you will assess clients' mental health needs, create tailored therapeutic plans, and apply your expertise to facilitate positive change in their lives. Your contributions will be vital in helping individuals navigate challenges such as substance use, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.

You will utilize telehealth technology to conduct therapy sessions, manage client records, and communicate with multidisciplinary team members effectively. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of clients' mental health status through virtual consultations, utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive evaluations and client feedback, adjusting approaches as necessary.
  • Facilitate regular therapy sessions via telehealth platforms, employing various therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailored to client needs.
  • Provide clients with coping mechanisms, resources, and referrals to additional services, such as psychiatric evaluations or group therapy, as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and treatment progress in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists and social workers, to ensure holistic care for clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a diverse clientele grappling with various mental health conditions, including those with a history of substance abuse, mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, and eating disorders. Our focus on cultural competence means that you will adapt your therapeutic approaches to acknowledge and respect each client's unique background, values, and experiences. This role requires a compassionate and empathetic disposition to effectively connect with individuals from all walks of life.

Qualifications
  • A master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Illinois.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience providing mental health counseling with a solid understanding of various mental health disorders and treatment methodologies.
  • Strong crisis intervention skills and experience dealing with clients in acute distress.
  • Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems, with additional skills in telehealth technologies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and trust with clients.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in telehealth or remote therapy settings.
  • A background that includes delivering both individual and group therapy.
  • Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic practices and cultural sensitivity in clinical interventions.
