Vail Health Emergency Department is a 2023 recipient of Emergency Nursing Lantern Award for exceptional and innovative performance in leadership, practice, education, and advocacy. VH ED has also been awarded the Press Ganey Guardians of Excellence for three years running for 36 consecutive months of patient experience scores above the 95th percentile. We are also an ANCC Pathways to Excellence designated hospital. Vail Health is a rural independent community hospital and Level 3 trauma center located at the base of Vail Mountain, a world class skiing resort in Vail, Colorado. Vail Health is the only hospital located in Eagle County, Colorado and also sits right off a major interstate which keeps our patient population diverse and interesting. We serve not only the local community but all the visitors that come to visit this iconic mountain town. This is a summer seasonal full time night shift position with night differential paid.
About the opportunity:
This position assumes responsibility and accountability for providing nursing care for patients and their families. Provide expert, compassionate, individualized nursing care for patients and families. Collaborate with providers, staff and other members of the team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
What you will do:
  1. Oversee the daily patient flow to optimize patient care, safety and satisfaction using healthcare assessment skills, prioritizing skills and critical thinking skills.
  2. Triage incoming patient requests for services.
  3. Deliver patient education to facilitate plan of care, employer-informed healthcare choices, and promote optimal wellness.
  4. Delegate care appropriately and according to Colorado statutes.
  5. Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist in procedures as needed, while consistently adhering to patient safety guidelines.
  6. Coordinate patient care to achieve the highest possible level of patient care and satisfaction.
  7. As needed, handle high telephone volume of patient requests for medications, information, and assistance.
  8. Work independently, as needed, with minimal supervision.
  9. Deliver excellent service by utilizing Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients and families.
  10. Role models the principles of a Just Culture
  11. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
Experience:
  • One-year of critical care or emergency experience required.

License(s):
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado or from a valid compact state required.

Certification(s):
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) ~OR~ Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) required.

Education:
  • Minimum of Associate Nursing Degree for positions hired after 07/01/2018.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.
