Job Description:
  • Contract LPN will provide skilled nursing to Intermediate/Medical Nursing Home Long term care units for long term care patients and Psychiatric patients.
  • Contract LPN demonstrates increasingly more independence in his/her management of patient care.
  • The Contract LPN demonstrates competence in caring for adult psychiatric, medical and geriatric patients. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, LPN works closely with others as needed in Ambulatory Care, Critical Care, Nursing Home units or the Emergency Room. The nurse functions both independently and dependently with guidance and direction from Nurse Manager or designee.
  • LPN shall have knowledge and skills sufficient to prepare, administer, and appropriately document commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications as permitted by approved local facility policies and procedures.
  • Observation and documentation will include patient's response to medication administered and the reporting of any noted change in patient's condition to RN or MD/DO.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a responsible member of the nursing team and interact in an appropriate manner with patients, family members, professional and other supportive personnel involved in the delivery of patient care, incorporating acceptable, established customer service standards into practice.
  • VA experience is preferred.
  • LPN required to be a graduate of a state approved school of practical/vocational nursing.
  • The minimum requirement for all LPN's assigned to the NJHCS shall include Nurses must have active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • A current CPR/BLS certificate by the American Heart Association is required.
