Job description

Quality Management Specialist Registered Nurse (RN)

The Quality Management (QM) Specialist Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction in quality-of-care outcomes. He/She brings principals and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills. They participate in the exploration of outcomes at the program level. The Program is defined as a substantial coordinated group of activities impacting patients and/or employees. The Quality Management Specialist position serves as the facility's subject matter expert in compliance with standards within various program areas of the Medical Center, facilitates patient safety and risk management events and processes. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performs documentation of patient care reviews, evaluation of patient care, medical record analysis for appropriateness of safe care, data extraction, evaluation and reporting techniques, performs tracers and leads implementation of action plans resulting from site visit findings.
  • Monitors staff compliance with relevant policies, directives and standards, provides reports detailing trends and provides direct staff support to all programs in plannings, designing, integrating, implementing and administering a comprehensive quality management program and performance improvement principles.
  • Ensuring survey readiness for oversight bodies, including but not limited to, The Joint Commission, Ascellon, OIG, and other program specific site visits as non-compliance with program standards may jeopardize patient safety and the organization's accreditation status.
  • The QM Specialist is assigned responsibility for their assigned quality management program area activities for the Medical Center and all off-site locations.
  • Collects data, monitors staff compliance with relevant policies, directives, and standards, provides reports detailing trends, and provides direct staff support to all services in planning, designing, integrating, implementing, modifying, and administering, a comprehensive quality management program area.
  • Participates in facility councils, committees, and workgroups including the Network Director Performance Plan (NDPP). Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
