The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is seeking a skilled
Anesthesiologist with cardiothoracic experience to provide high-quality perioperative care for our nation's Veterans. This

Position Details
Position: Anesthesiologist (Cardiothoracic Experience Preferred)
Location: Minneapolis VA Health Care System

Rate: Up to $16,000 Weekly for Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Expertise!
Position Type: Contract | Long-Term, Full-Time
(Base Year + Four Option Years)Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-3:00 PM (excluding Federal Holidays)
- Approximately 80 hours per two-week pay period
- Rotating on-call schedule, collaboratively coordinated
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Key Responsibilities
- Administer anesthesia and continuously monitor patients throughout surgical procedures
- Develop and implement individualized anesthesia care plans in collaboration with surgeons and clinical teams
- Provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative anesthesia care
- Conduct patient evaluations, including medical history reviews and physical assessments
- Monitor and respond effectively to anesthesia-related emergencies and critical events
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with VA standards and policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer collaboration, and clinical education activities
- Ensure compliance with patient safety standards, infection control procedures, and federal regulations
- Support the facility's mission to enhance Veteran access to timely, high-quality surgical care
Note: Cardiac device implantation procedures (including pacemakers, LVADs, and defibrillators) may be encountered but are not considered a primary responsibility of this role.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree
- Board Certified in Anesthesiology
- Active, unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory
- Demonstrated experience practicing in hospital and surgical environments
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to function independently within a team-based setting
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- Cardiothoracic anesthesia experience
- Experience supporting high-acuity surgical programs
- Familiarity with VA healthcare systems, federal healthcare environments, or government healthcare practices
- Interest in contributing to clinical process improvement and care access initiatives
