Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced hybrid UX Specialist & Project Manager to join our Central Operations team! This enterprise role drives initiatives tied to F5's strategic priorities by combining project management with user experience (UX) research and design leadership. You will lead strategic projects that transform and optimize the enterprise, ensuring both operational excellence and exceptional user experiences across products, platforms, and services.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in project management and a proven track record in UX research or design, with experience delivering complex initiatives and actionable user insights across enterprise stakeholders. This role accelerates value delivery at scale, shaping both business outcomes and user satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities
  • UX Responsibilities
    • Lead and conduct end-to-end UX research (e.g., interviews, usability testing, journey mapping) to inform project, process and/or tooling direction, design, and workflow priorities.
    • Lead end-to-end process and experience analysis, including current state assessment, pain point identification, and definition of future state with prioritized business and user requirements.
    • Translate user needs, research insights, and business goals into intuitive, accessible, end-to-end user experiences
    • Design user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications that effectively solve defined problems
    • Partner closely with cross functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality, feasible solutions
    • Validate designs through usability testing and iteration, incorporating feedback and data to improve outcomes
    • Clearly communicate design rationale and recommendations to stakeholders, tying decisions to user and business impact
    • Mentor and support team members in UX research/design practices.
    • Design and deliver executive-level presentations, synthesizing both business and user experience insights.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AI tools and their application to UX design

  • Project Management Responsibilities
    • Ensure initiatives have clear outcomes, scope, success criteria, and alignment with business and user experience objectives.
    • Design, build, and maintain project execution plans and roadmaps that integrate people, process, technology, and user-centered design activities across business functions.
    • Identify workstreams and monitor execution per scope, schedule, resourcing, and budget, ensuring UX milestones are embedded in project plans.
    • Establish team structures for each workstream, providing direction to project leads, UX researchers/designers, and coordinators to manage scope, timelines, deliverables, and risks.
    • Partner with Change Management to ensure business readiness, engagement, adoption, and positive user impact.
    • Establish governance structures, proactively mitigating risks-including those related to user experience and adoption.
    • Develop and lead comprehensive status reporting for executives, program leadership, and delivery teams, including actionable UX insights and recommendations.
    • Serve as an escalation point on risks, issues, and decisions, including those impacting user experience.
    • Establish program rhythm of business, including communications, status reports, and readouts to stakeholders and leadership.
    • Contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and user-centered thinking across Central Operations.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AI tools and their application to UX design

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Applies user-centered design principles to translate user needs, research insights, and business goals into intuitive digital experiences.
  • Conducts user research and usability testing to validate designs and inform continuous improvement.
  • Designs effective interaction flows, information architecture, wireframes, and prototypes to support usability and task completion.
  • Produces high-quality visual designs while working within established design systems to ensure consistency and accessibility.
  • Collaborates closely with cross-functional partners, clearly communicating design rationale and incorporating feedback.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program/project management methodologies (waterfall, agile, kanban, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, program development, resource allocation, budget management, and risk assessment.
  • Proficiency in program management software (e.g., Smartsheet, Workboard) and UX research/design tools (e.g., UserZoom, UserTesting, Qualtrics).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and ability to develop effective partnerships across the company and with end users.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize business and user data, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across written, verbal, and presentation formats to all levels of the organization, including executive summaries and actionable UX recommendations.
  • Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of enterprise-level processes and the interplay between functions, with a user-centered perspective.
  • Ability to think strategically and act tactically, with a willingness to "roll up your sleeves."
  • Learning mindset; keeps up on industry trends, research, and best practices in both project management and UX.
  • Experience mentoring or coaching others in project management and/or UX research/design.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Human Factors, HCI, Design, Business, Engineering).
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS in Human Factors/UX) or equivalent desired.
  • PMP, PgMP, or other relevant project management certifications highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in project/program management and 3+ years in UX research/design, with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-impact projects and actionable user insights at technology-based companies or within technical domains.
